Give Me Some Sugah — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I DECIDED TO VISIT THIS BAKERY ON TUESDAY APRIL 23, 2024 AROUND THE 1:00PM HOUR. APPARENTLY THE BAKERY HAS BEEN A STAPLE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD SINCE 2008. I SAW A VERY SMALL AD ONCE BACK IN 2021 BUT THE HOURS WERE KINDA FLIMSY DUE TO PANDEMIC. SINCE THE PANDEMIC HAS PASSED TRIED ONCE AGAIN BUT THE HOURS WERENT AS FLEXIBLE. SO I WAS AROUND IN THE AREA GOING FOR CHINESE FOOD AT HOUSE OF BING AROUND THE CORNER. I DECIDED TO CHECK OUT AND SEE IF THE BAKERY WAS OPENED AT THIS TIME. I GUESS I GOT LUCKY SHE WAS OPENED AND HAD REGULAR BUSINESS HOURS ONCE AGAIN TUESDAY - SATURDAY 11:00AM - 6:00PM. I WENT TO THE BAKERY AND THERE WAS SOME GUY THAT LOOKS LIKE BRUH MAN FROM MARTIN. HE WAS COOL BUT HE ISNT AND LET ME REPEAT PEOPLE HE ISNT THE DAMN OWNER!!! DUDE DOESNT OWN THE PLACE AND ISNT THE BAKER JUSTS HUSTLER TRYING TO MAKE IT BIG (BECOME FAMOUS INSERT 🤭) IN THE HOOD!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 YEA THOSE TWO THINGS DONT GO TOGETHER U BEING FAMOUS AND BEING IN THE HOOD, SOMEONE LIED TO YOU!! 🤣 😂 😜 THERE IS A LADY WHO OWNS AND IS THE MAIN BAKER MISTER FAKER UP ABOVE OF THIS BAKERY LOCATION CALLED ‘GIVE ME SOME SUGAH’. I WENT IN AND BOUGHT SEVERAL BAKERY GOODS AND DESERTS. ONE BUTTER COOKIE, ONE PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE, SLICE OF YELLOW CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING, WHITE ICING WITH DEVIL FOOD CAKE AND BUTTERCREME WHITE ICING WITH YELLOW CAKE. THE COOKIES ARE HUGE, SOFT, TASTY AND SO RICH U CAN TASTES THE BUTTER. THE PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE ESPECIALLY WITH THE MIXTURE OF PEANUT BUTTER AND PEANUT CHIPS ALL THROUGHOUT AND IN BETWEEN. THE SLICES OF CAKE WHICH U CAN BUY BY THE SLICE OR ORDER A FULL SHEET OR HALF CAKE IS ALL HOMEMADE FROM SCRATCH. FROM THE ICING AND AS WELL AS THE CAKE ITSELF IT IS GOOD THROUGH AND THROUGH. THE CAKES ARE MOISTS CRUMBLE IN ITS TEXTURE. THE ICING IS THICK RICH AND FULL OF ALL THE FIXINGS OF A CAKE MADE FROM SCRATCH. SO MY FIRST EXPERIENCE HERE AT THE BAKERY FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. This is the worst bakery I have ever patronized!!!! The only reason I gave them 1 star was because I could not give a review without doing so. When I initially placed my order the ladies were very pleasant. I was very specific with the details of my order and asked both ladies if they were able to fulfill my request. They assured me they could so I placed the order. The day I picked up the cake I was in a serious rush so I grabbed it and rushed off. That was a huge mistake on my part!!! The cake was ATROCIOUS!!!! It was big, messy, and very poorly decorated!! I called to complain and they were so unprofessional and did not even attempt to offer an apology or solution!!! My guests arrived and could not stop laughing at the cake. They refused to believe I paid for the cake let alone from a professional baker. They took pictures and posted them on social media, it was so embarrassing!!! The cake tasted as bad as it looked!!! The whipped cream icing was too sweet and had chunks of sugar crystals. The strawberry center had very few strawberries and the ones that were there tasted like cough syrup and the cake tasted like sweet cornbread!!! A $76 garbage cake!!!! None of the guests liked it!!! My daughter was very disappointed, I was very angry and my guests were in disbelief and very amused!!! When you own a business you have to be more than nice, your product has to be good!! This place has some great cookies. However some days it's a hit and other days it's a miss. My first visit I was floored by the delicious cookies. The lady was kind of angry looking and unwelcoming but the cookie was good. My second visit the cookies wasn't as good and still this lady was angry looking and unwelcoming. I don't like going to a place for comfort foods like a bakery and feel uneasy cause the staff seems mean or angry. I want a experience that is more friendly and welcoming. I didn't feel welcome on either visit. I felt like me coming there was an inconvenience. The heavy set lady seems more welcoming but this other lady should probably not serve the public. Small business that really has potential but this lady with the frowned up face and bad disposition needs reassigned or to change her disposition. Smile and be welcoming to all of your customers.
