i went through a LOT to get to this location for chicken because I had to walk a distance. the location that I had previously ordered from last week, with an EXCELLENT experience, on 43rd st was closed. But I was craving that taste again! The experience was AWFUL! While I was waiting to be served, the cashier was having trouble with two separate customer's card payments because of the machine (so i got out of line to go get cash) and a man who was also waiting in line had called ahead for his order and was complaining that an hour later, he still had no food. When my turn came, i ordered the chicken wings with the mild sauce, two separate orders and asked for extra lemon pepper sauce, just like i had done at the location on 43rd st. also asked for two sodas. The order was ready fairly quickly but it was completely WRONG. I was shorted the amount of wings i asked for, so they charged me extra for it to correct THEIR mistake. My soda order was wrong, gave me a flavor i never asked for. since when does ROOT BEER sound like GINGER ALE? the young lady serving me my food thought to give me a lecture on how my food was presented (in one box instead of two) instead of apologizing for the mess up and directing that lecture to the lady who took the order who AGREED to place my chicken in one box. Finally i sit down to eat and immediately taste bland, barbecue covered chicken but i asked for EXTRA LEMON PEPPER! back to the window i go, but now i am just ready to throw it all away, but i am hungry. the resolution: we can pour the extra on for you if you want. no! I don't want you dumping lemon pepper on my chicken, i wanted to COOK it with the extra seasoning. NEVER GOING BACK. will stick with the 43rd st location. it was perfect, they delivered with a smile and it...
Read moreFirst off the one star that I am giving them is because the service was pretty fast and despite the long line I ended up getting my food within 10 minutes. other than that this is not the kind of Harold's Chicken I was raised up on, who the hell puts barbecue sauce on chicken in CHICAGO? We use MILD SAUCE! the chicken pieces was so small and was extremely hard and overcooked it tasted old and the fries tasted disgusting everything tasted like i was eating a bag of potato chips with bbq sauce on it. I could barely bite into it so i had to trash it. Wouldnt even feed it to a dog. I spent $16.21 for this BS. I couldve fried my own chicken at home. Sadly i stay about 8 minutes from this place but i will not be returning & To top it all off the hispanic lady at the counter got mad because i told her i didnt ask for BBQ SAUCE I ASKED FOR MILD SAUCE. SHE TOLD ME THAT IS THE SAME THING I TOLD HER WHERE I COME FROM ITS NOT THE SAME THING HONEY. I ALSO TOLD HER THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU CALL HAROLDS CHICKEN. BUT I TOOK IT ANYWAY BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE CHICKEN WOULD BE GOOD INSPITE OF THE BBQ SAUCE THAT WAS ON IT. BUT WHEN I GOT HOME IT WAS D I S G U S T I N G. IF I WASNT SO TIRED I WOULD HAVE GOT A REFUND BUT I JUST TRASHED IT. NEVER AGAIN!!! IF YOU WANT GOOD HAROLDS I HIGHLY SUGGEST THE ONE ON 136TH & CICERO IN CRESTWOOD!!. I LITERALLY TRAVEL FROM THE SOUTHSIDE JUST...
Read morethe food at all Harolds is good no problem there.. the service you get at the Hyde Park store #14 is below standard. I had a bad experience with a male worker who scolded me because i simply did not place my ticket in the rotating window so he could prepare my order. I simply forgot the protocol and instead of telling me to drop the ticket in the window, he looked at me with discust and proceded to admonish me for not reading his mind. I am not the type to go off on people but that situation should have been my coming out moment. I hate to sterotype a black owned business but it seems to be a thing that customer service or interaction is consistantly lacking and they don't care. I am black and I try to support our folk but its hard especially when they would not treat other people as bad or bad at all. Thats my perspective as I felt that type of energy at this particular Harolds Chicken. Train your employees to respect ALL your customers. People don't have to cater to you even though you feel you have nothing to lose. Covid shutdown should have taught you...
