Normally, my experience is great. I have been ordering from Nicky's for about 5 years, I think, and have never had any complaints. I usually place my order by phone on Fridays and then, run a few errands in the complex while I wait. Last Friday, 6/24/22, I called from the parking lot and had intended to run down the lot to the CVS, back to Kimbark Beverages for soda, and ending at Nicky's. The first time I called, the line was busy and so, I called back. The gentleman that I got went through the preliminary questions (i.e. - pick-up or delivery, phone number, etc.). He did have a heavy accent which has not been a concern before but this gentleman spoke quickly and was not as clear as those whom I normally get on the phone. When I did not understand him, I said politely (I promise, y'all, I was polite), "Excuse me, can you repeat that?", or "I'm sorry, I didn't understand you...", and he was clarifying what he said--I thought everything was fine. He gives me my total but it was not clear so I again asked him to repeat it. He did and I thanked him, BUT THEN, he said something unintelligible about 'restaurants in Hyde Park'. I thought he was cracking a joke. I THOUGHT he said, 'You know we the best restaurant in Hyde Park, right?", and so I laughed. Apparently, that is NOT what he said because he then began to yell at me telling me that my order was fake and that I needed to come inside and place my order. I still thought he was joking but he became even more irate telling me that he believes it is a fake order and that I 'keep going, 'whaaaat, whaaaat' (I promise, I did not, that is not my word tract). At this point, I am dumbfounded and he continues to yell into the phone that he will not take my order over the phone. I hang up to go in to place my order and then, decided against it because I did not want my food defiled but I wanted to find out what the issue was. A polite young lady asked me what I wanted and I stated that I was the young lady that had just attempted to place an order from my car and was accused of 'being a fake order'. At that moment, this gentleman 'ramps up' again, yelling about the amount of fake orders that they get 'all the time'. I assured him that it was not me and that I order from them all the time; however, he asserted that I was the only one that could not understand him. I explained that it is commonplace to ask for clarification when someone is not clear and that he should not take it personally but just repeat what he said slower. He continues to yell, shooing me out of the restaurant and I agreed never to visit their establishment again -- that's $130 every Friday that I spend. EVERY FRIDAY. And business tip: If you take the phone numbers of your customers and you believe the order to be fake, CALL IT BACK. Other businesses do it ALL THE TIME. I DID NOT PLACE MY ORDER--I DO NOT FINANCIALLY SUPPORT BUSINESSES THAT DO NOT DELIVER THE SAME RESPECT TO ME THAT I DELIVER TO THEM He could have made his point so much better...

But, I have never in my life ever been treated so rudely over the phone by both the supportive staff and even more surprisingly from the manager in any business transaction. I called Nicky's Chinese to place a delivery order. Included in this order were two items a lobster egg-foo young & a shrimp lo mein. I surprisingly received my order pretty fast. My complaint lies in the ill-prepared shrimp lo-mein. I was by no means satisfied with the conditions in which the shrimp lo mein looked, it did not appear to have been edible. Actually it looked as if it was sitting on the counter all day and it was ice cold. I called in to express my non-content state to the staff and an employee that answered said to me, "I don't care if you don't like you don't have to buy from us anymore." I have ordered from Nicky's for a number of years. It really took me by surprise and so I requested for a refund only for the shrimp lo mein- he completely dismissed it without with-out hesitation." So, at this point I had requested to speak to the supervisor. I was transferred and the supervisor whom sounded quite distinctively similar to the person I had initially spoken to. Continuing on the alleged supervisor was even ruder and said exactly the same thing verbatim. The supervisor went a little further and said, "You paid already and there's nothing you can do you are only one customer, and we will not refund you." Yes, I was really upset at both their tone and delivery to me. My suspicions led me to believe that I may be speaking to the same person as I was trying to express my concern about their food preparation. Nobody wanted to listen they were completely dismissive and rude. Yes, life goes on and I spent $30.35 (and a $3.00 tip for the delivery guy) I did not trust eating the egg-foo young either because to the level of skepticism with how the shrimp lo mein was prepared. I ended up throwing both in the garbage and ordered some more take out from another restaurant. Here's my concern is with their food preparing and handling, and I am worried people are going to get sick because of their poor abilities of both food preparation and handling. Read moreZERO STARS FOR NICKY'S CHINESE FOOD! Do not patronize this place because they do not value their customers and I was told not to come there anymore for an order they messed up. I placed an order for delivery for vegetable fried rice and hunan chicken. They delivered the vegetable fried rice with two pieces of broccoli and green peppers, no other vegetables in the fried rice. They also delivered green pepper and beef instead of the hunan chicken. I called and spoke with the "manager" to let them know my delivery was incorrect. The "manager" tells me that the vegetable fried rice I received had more than broccoli and green peppers because he went to the kitchen and looked, I told him that I have the order right in front of me and I can see there are only two pieces of broccoli and green peppers in it and I ordered the chicken dish but received the beef dish. He told me well you obviously don't like our food so keep it and cancel the charges and don't order from us again and hung up on me! I was too outdone so I went to the restaurant to speak directly to the "manager" about his poor customer service and to return the food. The "manager" was just as rude as he was over the phone and was speaking to me in a condescending matter and was very dismissive. He said that me stating they had poor customer service was my opinion. He goes on to tell me "I told you to keep the food and cancel the charges. What's better than free food?"
