I was excited to give this place a try, but was left disappointed.
Service - Service wasn’t horrible, but wasn’t great. They did check if we needed refills, but just their demeanor came off as they didn’t want to be there.
Food - Extremely disappointing. Prices were way too much for what they are offering. I ordered the ebi nigiri, which is usually my favorite at any sushi restaurant. The shrimp was room temperature as if it had been left out on the countertop and so chewy I had to spit it out and forgo eating the second piece. I also ordered the miso soup and steamed rice. The rice was fine, just your average white rice, but the miso soup did lack some flavor. My husband ordered the teriyaki chicken plate, which should just be called the soy sauce veggies and rice plate. The amount of meat was minuscule and was sliced into perfect toddler bite sized pieces. The sauce was good, just not a teriyaki flavor. The fried rice had a decent taste, but did not contain any veggies like you might assume a fried rice would have, so the $2-3 markup was a little ridiculous. My husband also ordered two rolls, but simply stated going with Fred Meyers ready to go sushi would’ve been tastier, fresher, and cheaper.
Atmosphere - For the prices we paid, you’d expect better upkeep of the restaurant. The booths were old and cracked. The walls were missing enough paint at table level that you could see the walls paint history. Also, for the level of dining they are going for, it should be pay at the table, and not upfront on your way out. It’s not a Denny’s.
Overall, if you’ve ever had sushi anywhere else in your life, skip this place. Save yourself the money and disappointment, and stop by Fred Meyers or Albertsons on your way home to pick up their premade rolls and turn on a fish tank screensaver on the TV. It’d be a tastier...
Read moreI was genuinely surprised at how poor my experience here ended up being. After hearing a lot of praise for this place I took my wife here on a date. Getting seated didnt take too long as we beat a rush coming in, but we soon discovered that they were very understaffed last night. By my reconing there was one waitress for the whole place, and she was taking orders and admitting folks at the front. That being the case it took a long time to be waited and served.
When I saw the roll options I was very excited, and when I saw the price tag on them I was hopeful that the cost would correspond to quality or at least quantity. Sadly, it didn't. We got 4 rolls and all of them were not to our taste. The individual ingredients (fish, shrimp, cream cheese, etc) were oddly flavorless, the rolls were lacking sauce, toppings and seasoning, and were overall very so-so. One roll even managed to be dry, somehow. Don't get me wrong, if you are a fan of "clean eating" or lighter fare, you would probably like it, but if you are expecting a decadent flavorful roll, you will be a bit let down.
That said, they also had a lot of rolls seasoned with cilantro and made with asparagus. So if you feel turned off by these ingredients being in your sushi you are going to be a bit pigeonholed into what you can get.
I will still give it 3 stars because at the end of the day the sushi wasn't terrible, it just wasn't what I wanted. Also, that lady waiting everyone was hustling and still doing a good job, and whoever was making the rolls had a ton of orders and was cranking them out as fast as any other place would on a crowded night. Also, I actually liked...
Read moreWe've been here before, and the sushi was good, although the service was slow and inattentive.
This time it was terrible all around.
We ordered Salmon Sashimi and two rolls.
The Salmon Sashimi was spoiled, stinky and rancid. When we finally got our server to come to our table (he was busy talking to friends at the bar seats and drinking), we told him about it and he said "let me see what I can do about it". He took it back to the kitchen, and then continued serving other tables, ignoring us. After about 15 minutes, he brought us another plate of the sashimi, saying he hopes this one is better. It actually was much better, but my wife would not taste it, having the previous rancid one go up and down in her throat.
The other two rolls we ordered were also a disappointment.
The deep fried Crunch roll was over fried, on the side of slightly burnt and very dry.
The Copper something roll had miniscule amount of fish in it and the salmon on the top was paper thin.
The server did not charge us for the Salmon Sashimi, and that was appreciated, and quite frankly, the only reason I left him a nice tip.
Truthfully - after the last few times coming here, we decided that was our last and final attempt. They will never...
