We only got ice cream because they did not have the Churros con nieve (churros & ice cream). When I asked for a scoop of ice cream in English, the server got flustered and did not want to speak English and went to the back to get a translator. I had my wife and kids with me who were confused. The other server asked me if I spoke Spanish and I told her I did and would communicate in Spanish. I donât like to assume that people of Latin descent just automatically wants to speak Spanish which is why I did not speak Spanish in the first place.
The original server came back and we continued our order in Spanish. I asked for the churros con nieve and they did not have any. The line at this time was getting long and people in the line started to snicker at us probably realizing that we were new to this situation. At this point, I just wanted to get ice cream for my family and leave as quickly as possible.
I wanted to experience the ice cream parlor but the server soured it for me. Perhaps the area I was in was predominantly Spanish speaking and known that Spanish is preferred when you come here, but that too broad of a snap judgement to make.
The ice cream was decent. The first server was horrible with customer service. The second server who asked politely if I knew Spanish was wonderful.
Would I go back, probably not. We are not from Idaho. Would I recommendâŚno. However, for anyone who would like to try out some different frozen treats with a Latin flavor, give it a shot. I am sure the first server did not mean any disrespect, but should probably work on those customer service skills for those âgringosâ looking for a cold...
Read moreId rate this place a zero if i could. Very unsatisfied. We are a Native American family and were racially profiled assuming that we spoke spanish. When we politely said we spoke English, the lady became frustrated and didn't even attempt to try. Take in mind we heard speaking English to the family before ours. Everything we wanted was apparently not in stock which again was disappointing. We settled for some pretty overpriced small ice creams if ya ask me. Tables weren't properly washed, once we sat down it seemed like "customer service" stopped once they got our money and were done with us. This was on the bucket list and we are extremely disappointed with our entire experience overall. Will not recommend infact theres plenty of other family friendly businesses that are affordable with better quality and...
Read moreLa Michoacana is tucked away. If someone doesn't take you there, or if you don't know what it is or where to look, you'll miss it. Inside, it's clean, you can sample the flavors, & the employees are friendly & cheerful, & are fluent in english & spanish. The sherbert however is fantastic! I haven't tried the ice cream yet, but i was thrilled at the lactose intolerant option! To be able to enjoy each flavor properly would take several hours a day for a week. The pepino & tamarindo are by far my favorite. The flavor is explosive! Yet enjoyable. The atmosphere is wonderful, & it's a great place for a casual or first date(& 2nd & 3rd). It's the latin/hispanic/mexican Baskin Robbins & I look forward to introducing all of my...
