The food and service here were excellent and Mia was a phenomenal server. Very friendly, courteous and prompt, not to mention attentive. All of the staff I witnessed were friendly, knowledgeable and treated the guests well which is not something I’ve seen often.
Now for the food. I started with the blooming petals, an advertised smaller version of the infamous blooming onion, and how can you not do the onion at an Outback? I seriously doubt it was any smaller, the portion size was huge! I also had the steak salad, which was very flavorful and the steak was cooked to medium rare perfection and extremely tender. For how it was advertised, I would have loved more garden veggies and blue cheese, but it was still a good salad and the recommended dressing complemented well with the flavors. Mia convinced me to try a side and I decided to try the Mac and cheese, which was good, but the flavors did not pair well with those of the salad, so it was not my cup of tea with this meal. Had I known it would be $6.45, I don’t think I’d have done it, but I do commend Mia for the way she worked the menu items, as a former restaurant owner, I wish more of my servers had been that well versed, so I always love seeing that effort. I finished the meal with the new dessert they were featuring. I’m struggling to recall the creative and quirky name they had for it, but it was as tasty as it looked. Mine was served perfectly, but the couple seated behind me also ordered one and it was pretty well frozen.
I love the drinks at the Outback restaurants, so decided to try two of the new signature drinks. The watermelon mojito was phenomenal and very refreshing, mixed perfectly and the balance of flavors was fun! Felt like summer on the beach in the dead of winter. The Aussie coffee on the other hand needs to go back to the drawing board. I was really looking forward to pairing it with the dessert, but the alcohol was way too strong and the coffee used was very distasteful. It was extremely overpowering and almost tasted burnt. It honestly was not drinkable and I ended up leaving over 3/4 of it untouched. It was an unfortunate and disappointing end to an otherwise incredible meal.
I knew the two items I was gambling on were fairly new and as such I’m not going to let them influence my review as the overall experience was great. Every plate that went out looked incredible and I was overall very pleased with the meal and service. The menu boasts quite a few new items and features, but there’s still all the familiar classics.
I would highly recommend this location and I think wether dining alone, or as a family or group, there’s something for everyone and you’ll...
Read moreI am not a particularly fussy person, and I enjoy leaving positive reviews for places. I do so frequently. Sadly, however, tonight is not one of those nights. I was on my way from western Montana to the Salt Lake City area to visit family, and stayed the night in Idaho Falls. This Outback was close to my hotel, and I had not eaten anything but 2 pieces of toast early in the morning, so I was quite hungry. I did get seated right away, and the server brought my water and silverware quickly. But that's when things went downhill. I ordered a martini, and though I'm sure they dribbled a dropper-full of vodka into the very small glass, it was undetectable to the taste buds. What do you want for $10, right?? Then I ordered my food ~ nothing fancy. Not a steak or anything, just a standard chicken sandwich on a bun with fries. The server brought my bread quite quickly. However, it was a full 40 minutes from the time I placed my order until my food arrived. In fact, I was just gathering my belongings to leave when it finally made it to my table. 40 minutes for a chicken sandwich. It was a Thursday at about 7, and there were a number of empty tables, so I can only guess they were terribly under staffed. In fact, it almost seemed like the server I had was the only one on shift, though I know that's likely not the case. When my food did arrive, the sandwich, though smaller than I anticipated, was hot. The fries, however, were stone cold. It had been some time since those bad boys came out of the fryer, no question. I ate a couple, but left most of them on the plate, which is rare for a spud lover like me! I actually would have given a lower rating than I did were it not for the server. She was super friendly, very upbeat, smiled readily, moved fast, and dealt with everything coming her way with as positive attitude and friendly demeanor. I wish I would have gotten her name so I could name her here, but I didn't. She was the only bright spot in my visit to the Idaho Falls Outback Steak House this evening. I walked out of there after a skimpy $10 drink, a small sandwich and cold fries that I waited 40 minutes for, and my bank account was $30 lighter than when I went in. This was my first experience at an Outback Steak House, and will be my last....
Read moreAre you crazy? This is a rundown outback. Not only is it run down it is filthy as all hell and even though the bathrooms visually look clean it smells like you just stepped into a septic house. When you walk in the front door, to the right is cobwebs and all sorts of bugs they don't clean anything. Our butts hurt they were so sore from the low to the ground, Tattered nasty chairs that were in there. They want to charge you $30 for a steak, it wasn't cooked correctly, which we didn't say anything, we're served the wrong butter, put honey butter on all our food. Excuse was new people that switched up the honey and the regular. Little too late they brought us new baked potatoes, but we had honey butter all over our steaks because we like butter on our steaks. By the time everything was fixed, of course those steaks were cold. I shouldn't have to repeatedly insist it's sweet butter and be told it's whipped. When I say it's wrong, that's it, take care of it. The food was very subpar. We were only there because a relative was in town and really wanted out back, he visits out back a lot, but never here in Idaho falls and he will never go back again. $100 for three people to eat in a divi, dirty location that can't get your order right. My husband's steak had minced garlic on top, which we said we didn't want, yet another accident. The other steak was supposed to have minced garlic but didn't and it was brought to him on the side, that's not how you present a $33 steak. It said the states were seasoned but they were very Bland. I forgot to mention, that little tiny bit of minced garlic, which is actually out of a jar that you can buy at costco, was $3 for a quarter teaspoon of minced garlic with a little bit of butter. Of course they were what you want to call nice about everything, but who cares about nice when everything is ruined by everything being wrong. When you're outside the restaurant the blinds are literally beat up with busted blinds broken and hanging down like a ghetto apartment complex. How can anyone even be proud to work here? This place is disgusting. We will not be going back unfortunately the relative will never go back either, so we're...
