Should have read the reviews. Should have asked to see the room before we paid for it. Should have noticed the cancellation policy from the 3rd party booking as I would’ve canceled immediately. Original room price was $101, but fees/taxes bumped it up to $141! Value provided? Not half that. A $55 room at best. (Rm #159) Any recent reviews that are giving a 5/5 are suspected bots. Ignore them.
Hotel is under renovation- certain areas inaccessible but not mentioned anywhere on website.
Outside Security door broken. Anyone from street can enter 24/7. Mentioned to desk clerk - said he would report it but have a feeling it’s been broken for a long time.
Tiled floor/hallway carpets were filthy; doors to rooms looked like gray steel prison doors- creepy feeling. One ice machine located in the lobby area - you have to go across the parking lot because of the renovations taking place. Had to request an ice bucket.
Terrible odor in room of cleaner or possibly exterminator spray (?) based on others’ reviews of ants, mice and bedbugs. We opened our window to air it out; track was absolutely filthy-like it had ever been cleaned.
For a newly renovated room, the furniture inside is not new. It has either been repainted or repaired. Draperies were far too long and covered the radiator style heater/cooler so they had to be all bunched up and folded onto the windowsill in order to get airflow. Heating/cooling system itself did not have a safety grate cover, and was very dirty inside so what are we breathing in??
Bedding appeared to be fairly new, which was a good thing, but the mattresses were not. They’re old and mine was a bit lumpy. The sheets were not deep enough to completely fit under the mattress. Also, on my bed underneath the sheet, I could see a long black hair which I chose to leave because I didn’t want to touch it.
Bathroom toilet paper had about 10 squares left on it and should’ve been replaced before we arrived. The toilet paper itself is so thin that you need to use triple the normal amount!! The body lotion tube was half empty, indicating it had been used by a previous guest and never replaced.
Shower curtains had stains on the inside of them that looked like it might’ve been mold/mildew and there was no nonskid surface in the tub which was a bit slippery. The showerhead had a lot of lime buildup on it but worked OK however, you could not use the adjustable slider for different flows as it was stuck in place. The water temperature was fine and did not fluctuate as indicated in other reviews.
Towels are very thin, worn and small. There was one face cloth, two hand towels, 3 bath towels and no bath mat. We requested and received extras and were told to use a towel as the bathmat. There were no extra pillows or blankets in the room.
Two light switches in the bathroom shower area, but only one functioned, which turned on both the light and the fan which was so loud and noisy that I did not turn it on in the morning for fear of waking up other guests in the hotel. The other switch was supposedly to turn on the heat lamp, but because it was just screw end pushing out of the wall and not an actual switch, it did not work.
There was one lamp in the room between the two beds, but no lamp in the area deemed to be a desk. I requested an extra lamp for the room, but was not provided with one. On the side of each bed is a gooseneck reading light - neither one worked. When I called the desk to let them know, he said he was going to come and fix it because it was just a loose connection, but he never showed up.
The Internet is 100% USELESS. We were told to log in to the Clarion – a next-door hotel, but the signal was too weak so basically, there is NO Internet at this hotel.
The TV guide information bears no resemblance to the station on any channels and some channels do not have an adequate signal to provide the picture or sound.
Based on other reviews, we skipped breakfast and will never stay here again. Nor...
Read moreOh boy. How to start? For starters, I should have checked the reviews before booking. I sank way too much money into this disgusting place ($150 a night, YIKES!!!!). To say that we're afraid of the breakfast bar and the pool is an understatement. But let me start from the beginning.
We checked in at the front desk. The lobby wasn't a lobby, it was a storage unit with a funeral home smell. Someone came out to greet me, he was totally nice and fine, his customer service was not the problem here. He gave us a key to room 121 and the moment we stepped in, we felt catfished by the Expedia photos and promotion of the hotel. The walls were covered in blotchy, raw spackle. It's clear they were covering up holes and abrasions. There were so many and they were so big. There were stains and splatters all over the walls. It was grungy and filthy. Let alone the ramshackle cabinetry that is askew, with crooked handles, covered in sticky residue and crumbs, and scratched all over. I have stayed in tacky places before, but this looked like they stopped caring a long, long time ago. Upon stepping inside, I was dreading the bathroom.
We got a double queen room. I was traveling with my cousin. Naturally, we still required and desired privacy from each other. So you expect the bathroom's door to shut and lock and close off smells/sounds/access. That was completely false. The "door" was a "sliding barn door" that didn't even cover the gaps from the open frame. It was a u-shaped bathroom, very strange and disturbing to experience, like you're traveling down a dark, dank tunnel. The walls were no different in there. Water damage lined the shower/tub "tiling". There were dark, huge swipes of mess across the walls. In our second room (because spoiler, we asked for a second room after another discovery of ours) the door WOULDNT EVEN STAY CLOSED. It slid back open. There was a HUGE gap that took away any ounce of privacy from us. It was insulting for a "hotel" accommodation.
In that first room, we came to the beds and we were concerned still. We immediately checked for bed bugs--yeah, we were legitimately concerned. Le Ritz, you're lucky there weren't any. We did, however, see horrifying stained sheets and small hairs all over the sheets and pillow cases. These white sheets WERE NOT CLEAN. They presented to us a "ready room" not at all ready.
So we asked for a second room, thinking, hopefully, this was a fluke. We got room 161. The hotel smelled of fresh paint and was clearing undergoing renovations (cheap, stupid renovations, I'll have you know) so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I thought perhaps customer service would have put us in a better, cleaner, renovated room for our horror and trouble.
Nope. We got a carbon copy, only this time we had cleanER sheets. The rest of it though? Filthy.
How can anyone even at the front desk level be proud of this place? How can management, or the owner? This isn't a hotel. This would make a hotel inspector gag.
So no, we didn't try the breakfast. We didn't check out their pool. Gross.
And they had the audacity to charge me $25 a night for my dog when their rooms looked like that? You'll never know a dog was here because there were WORSE things still present in both of those rooms.
So really, honestly, listen to this review and others. Do. Not. Stay. Here.
I've learned my lesson.
And no, we'll never give you another chance, Le Ritz. This...
Read moreThis might be the first time I've ever left a review on a hotel, which should probably tell you something.
Recently stayed at the Le Ritz Hotel based on the overwhelming amount of positive reviews. However, after spending a few nights here, and some inquiring of other guests and staff, the mast majority of these reviews were under the old owners and staff.
When we checked in, we were told our room was "recently remodeled" and to let the front desk know if anything was "missing." Seemed to be a strange request, and I asked what would be missing if it was a recent remodel...assuming someone who is part of the hotel team would have verified the room was ready for occupancy.
Upon checking into the room, it was evident this room had some recent work done, but to call it a remodel would be a gross exaggeration, and it appeared as if it had barely been touched by housekeeping after the remodel. We were missing furniture, had a broken refrigerator, the microwave had a hole in the door, among various other items we immediately noticed. When I went to call the front desk, I noticed the wrong phone was in the room (different room number) - not a huge deal, but when I picked up phone to call, it didn't work...so a trip to the front desk.
Was told "we'll add the furniture and address the other items." Spoke to a few people in lobby about their experience, same as us, and apparently not a hotel within 30 miles that had vacancy...so we were stuck trying to make this work.
Went back to room, expecting someone to show up...nothing. Took daughter to the pool, came back to let her shower and the tub doesn't drain. She's literally standing in a 1/2 filled bathtub within minutes of starting the water.
Back to the front desk..."we will call maintenance right away" - long story short, 2 days later, no maintenance, no fixes, no missing furniture. It was terrible. The bulk of the good reviews you see are not current. According to one guest we spoke with, they've been staying here for 17 years, and never again (according to them)...all because of new ownership.
So, for those looking for quicker list of issues: phone didn't work, wrong phone for room we were in (issue when traveling with younger children missing chair for the desk entire room covered with drywall dust hole in the microwave door Fridge broken/busted shelving Tub not draining closet door falling off track and almost hitting my wife pencil lines on walls where construction workers making marks workers yelling at each other all day long (not in a good way) light/fan in bathroom doesn't look like it has ever been cleaned. key decodes before checkout time so you get locked out of bldg when loading.
Bottom line - this place isn't worth the visit, take your business elsewhere. When concerns are brought up, the staff at front desk does nothing to address. Told management would be in to discuss,...
