Cliff Notes: "Not good. Reminds of old military chow hall food quality. If I had to choose between disgruntled Airmen and the dude-bro serving staff as my servers, I would have taken the disgruntled Airmen." Long story: In order to have fantastic places, you have to have mediocre spots. In order to judge what is good, you must also experience the bad. Yin and Yang, balance, and equilibrium. Addie's is my first breakfast spot I've visited since moving to Boise. I now have a standard on which to judge every other place I'll be visiting, because I won't be coming back here. Addies has all the lovely charm of an old military chow hall, complete with disinterested staff, poor food, messed up orders, and an overall sense of dread and doom as you shovel the slop into your mouth so you can get on with your day. I ordered the chicken fried steak, over hard eggs, with 1/2 biscuit and gravy. Check out the attached picture to see what I got. Cold runny eggs, cold biscuits, gravy with visible lumps, and a chicken fried steak where the breading left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. It also took forever to even make the order, as many servers looked me dead in the eye but were more interested in eating meals at the counter. In all, I've had worse food, but it was cooked by angry people in uniform in remote locations where everyone was miserable. This restaurant reminded me there can be worse places to eat and they are usually funded by Uncle Sam. Luckily, I'm at a point in my life where I don't have to unwillingly experience bad quality like this on a day-to-day basis ever again. I'd recommend other patrons do the same.

Breakfast at Addie's brought the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. I laughed when another reviewer said the cook didn't bother with seasonings. That only happens on the restaurant rescue shows. Shockingly, it was true here, too. Quick, call Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey before it's too late. In five and a half decades of living, I've never once ordered chicken fried steak and have it turn out to be an oversized hamburger patty. Except at Addie's. And neither it nor the gravy rhat came with it was seasoned. Service was underwhelming. The waitress greeted me fine when I came in and then proceeded to hand out menus and later take orders first from a couple that came in after me. Halfway through my meal, I still had received my toast. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said "oh oh" and rushed off to another table. Never did see that toast. Maybe it was just as well. She did come by with a to-go box when she saw I hadn't finished the "chicken-fried steak." When I declined, she didn't ask if there was something wrong with it. This was the original location of the old Brick Oven Beanery, long a Boise institution. Too bad some of its luster didn't rub off on Addie's, now known as the worst breakfast joint in Boise.

I took my granddaughters here on a Friday. They weren't hungry so they just had hot chocolate with whipped cream. I had the traditional bacon and eggs. It was good. The toast was a little on the burnt side. I was taken by surprise that toast was an additional 2.60. I guess I expected it as standard equipment. Breakfast for me and hot chocolate and a side of bacon for the girls came to just north of 35.00. I had a little sticker shock but I know food costs are up. They serve Boyds coffe which is much better than Farmers brand. Ada said the hot chocolate was good. An 8 out of 10. Hattie says 10 out of 10. I would go again.

I decided to bring my brothers and friends here after a great experience the first time.

BOY did this time change my mind about this place.

We got seated quickly, coffee quickly, but it took around ten minutes for our waitress to come to the table. Our waitress was a bit abrasive when talking with us, which is fine, and soon enough our orders were in. As soon as we got our food, my little brother noticed mold on his bun. It wasn't a lot, but it was bright green mold. After debate on if we should tell them or not, we decided it was the right thing to do. Very kindly, we informed an older waitress passing by that there was mold on the bun. She didn't say anything, gave a frustrated look, and stormed away. As we were sitting there waiting, the waitress came back and very bluntly went "So what's going on here guys." Like we had done something wrong. We kindly once again said that there was mold and we weren't upset. All we wanted was a new bun so my brother could enjoy his burger. She took the burger back and then came to us stating that all of the buns they had left had mold on them and offered to use regular bread as the substitute. We said it was fine and she soon brought the burger back. Sadly, most of us had finished almost all of our food by the time he was able to start. As he began to eat his burger, he pulled out a long black hair. At this point he had lost his appetite and wasn't able to finish it. We would've informed them of the hair had they been kind to us about their first mistake, but we didn't feel it was worth it. She also forgot my english muffin that she charged me extra for. AND We also found black hairs in our coffee cups. As we were ready to check out, the waitress could not figure out the computer system so the orders on split checks were all wrong, but we were understanding and didn't feel like fighting it anymore. We got our receipts and lined up to pay at the door and the employees were fighting loudly and in front of our faces! Telling each other that they didn't like each other's attitudes and to go home and that "they run this restaurant better than all of you!" The man checking us out was also getting frustrated and screaming "NEXT!!" while slamming our receipts on the counter. I made a comment "oh no this place is falling about at the seams!" as a joke, and he said "it's just this seventeen year old girl who thinks she owns the place." She was our waitress. Long story short, Gordon Ramsey needs to come in and whip this place into shape. Moldy hairy burgers are...

8/18/2018 - I had high hopes for this restaurant since it is only four blocks from me and I am always looking for a good place for Saturday/Sunday breakfast. Unfortunately there is nothing to recommend them. Got there at 8:05 AM Saturday morning, as soon as I walked in you could hear the volume of the entire room even though there only three other guests; one man at a booth and two other fellows at another booth, otherwise the main room was empty. I was greeted by a host with, and I don't know how else to put this, a creepy Gary Busey vibe like he'd been to maybe 3,000 too many California beach parties. They did bring my coffee quickly and had my order in by 8:10 - basic bacon and eggs with toast and hashbrowns. I finished the first cup of coffee, there was a fellow walking around with the coffee pot but he ignored me twice, I even literally shouted at him 8 feet away and he just kept going like he was sleep walking. He finally turned around when he got back to the prep area and I was able to wave him down. The toast arrived at 8:20. The main order did not arrive until 10 minutes later at 8:30. The bacon was done okay but the eggs had already started to cool off, they were barely above room temperature and were completely cool by the time I'd eaten half. By the time the main dish arrived the toast had also completely cooled off. The hashbrowns were the typical "take it out of the freezer and lightly grill it until the inside thaws" - but almost nobody makes real hash browns any more. The inside of these was barely warm. I took two bites and there was something "off" about the taste so I didn't eat any more of those. There was just nothing to recommend the place at all - the young woman who took the order and served the food was pleasant but never once came back to see if there was anything I needed, then the lackadaisical attitude of the other staff and badly prepared and timed food made it three strikes in a row. With three or four other breakfast choices conveniently close who have good service and great food I doubt I'll go back to Adddie's. It's a shame, too, I did have such high...

After reading mixed reviews, we finally decided that we would give the place a shot. We showed up yesterday around noon for brunch. When we walked in, the place was packed and the manager informed us the seater would be with us. Okay, plus one for customer service. Almost instantly, the seater shows up, and asks us to follow her to the back room. She points to a “cozy” table from the entrance of the room, hands us menus and leaves us to navigate all the chairs from a large party and a baby carrier while she disappears. We make it to this “cozy” table only to have no breathing room. My husband was not comfortable and we tried to jimmy the table to an angle so we could fit. I started eyeing the two other tables around us to move to once vacated. The seater returns with water and disappears again. My husband and I have finally decided what we wanted but the waitress was nowhere to be found. At one point, a women came to the large party and apologized for missing a drink but then disappears. The large party was muttering about how they hadn’t even ordered yet. Finally, my husband was fed up. We had been sitting in an incredibly cramped booth, no one waiting on us, and looking at the prices for breakfast food. He made the decision to leave. The large party noticed and commented as I was walking out, “maybe we should leave too?” We eventually ended up at Elmer’s Diner, and had a very delicious meal and experience. I’m a little upset I didn’t get to at least try the food at Addies, but the reviews are true folks, service is not a priority, and we won’t be back and we won’t recommend it to anyone. Elmer’s now has repeat...
