What a disappointment! Craving a sandwich and being pregnant, my husband and I were driving down State St when he spotted Eddie's Diner and said the magic words,"they have milkshakes". Sold! We were seated at a booth with enough crumbs to use as a bread coating and so many broken crayons we could have made a rainbow. We were there a total of 2 minutes when the server came over, grabbed my husband's menu and started pulling mine out of my hands, while it was open. I ordered our sandwiches (hubby was on the phone) and she walked away, never asking what type of bread we wanted or what we wanted to drink. It wasn't until she brought our food to us did she ask what we wanted to drink. Now, disappointed and not knowing the kind of shakes they offered, I settled on iced tea. She brought my tea out, with the check, we each had 1 bite of our sandwich. Told my husband we must be her last table. A few minutes later, an older couple came in and she was incredibly nice and took care of them, educating menu items and taking the time to ensure their order was what they wanted. Once we were done eating, she walked by our table several times and didn't bother picking up the dirty dishes stacked neatly at the end of the table. The name on the receipt for our server was Server #13. With only 4 tables in that place there was NO reason for this type of service. I will never be back nor recommend this...
Read moreI have a new favorite that I can't wait to share! This place is great. The waitresses are so sweet and the cook takes pride in his food. You know the foods good when the cooks and staff eat there too on and off shift! I have had a few different items off the menu, but they have great specials including for light eaters or seniors. The milkshakes and other desserts are so good and never takes your whole paycheck. I am not sure what to recommend because it's all great. They have breakfast and lunch with a great ambiance. I often get the small version of the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. My mom gets the chicken fried steak. We both order an order of fries with brown gravy to dip them in. That's if they make it that far, the fries are something not to miss and the real deal! It is a smaller diner, and they close at 3 usually, but worth the trip wherever you are. I have fallen in love with Eddie's Diner, and I promise you will too! All generations will be able to find something for them, from kids to seniors. You will make memories and tummies...
Read moreHusband and I both had the rib eye and eggs. Steak was cooked perfectly. The eggs and hash browns were fine. What gets them only 3 stars is the service and atmosphere. Walking in and having someone at the front where you are yell to the back that there are customers sets a bad tone. When we got seated we were offered coffee which my husband accepted. When I looked at the cup thought it was visibly dirty. Our waitress took away the other cup that was clean and while she went to get the coffee I swaped the dirty cup with a clean one. When we ordered we both wanted sourdough bread for our toast and we're told they were out. Which is fine, whatever where it becomes a problem is when a someone from the back comes out later on and starts talking about sourdough bread and the manager says save it for sandwiches. We will not be going back. Just down the street is The Egg Factory and their food is always above expectation and the service is good. This is actually the second time we have eaten here as we don't live very far away and second time we have...
