I wanted to like this place. French cuisine is one of my favorites. This was a test run to see if it was suitable to take the wife to dinner. Ordered: Assiette de Pâté, Lobster bisque and Duck a L'orange. The pate was solid...it looked like a trio of pate and rillettes. Nothing stood out...it was just a plate of pate. The Lobster Bisque was a sore disappointment. It was cream, stock and the tiniest amount of lobster bits. There was no depth of flavor. A small garnish of lobster would have made all the difference. Not very interesting and I found the portion difficult to finish due to lack of finesse. Finally, the Duck a L'orange. The duck had a beautiful roasted color, however it was very dry...which was surprising. No orange sauce to accompany it, very little in the way of identifying it as the classic French dish. The "apricots", "prunes" and "apples" were a lazy addition. Think of the dehydrated prunes and apricots you give to children. That is what they included. The apple made no sense ( half portion ). It wasn't poached ( if it was, not well )...it was sort of sauteed and made very little sense. I resented eating the duck due to how dry it was. Perhaps you can get away with this low quality in a market with few options but to call this French cuisine...it is French in name only. There is a very amateur cook in the kitchen. It is apparent they...
Read moreUpon walking in, it took 10 min to have the waitress come to our table (unacceptable). She did not seem friendly, but we disregarded it. I ordered the mushroom soup and my wife ordered the banana nutella crepe. When we got food, the soup was alright BUT when my wife got her crepe, the bananas seemed to be saturated in a heavy caramel-like sauce. There was just a drizzle of nutella. Being that my wife assumed this crepe would be JUST nutella and bananas, she politely asked the waiter what the sauce was. The waiter immediately became defensive and questioned why she was asking. She then rudely asked, “why, are you allergic to caramel?” As if to say...if she wasnt allergic to caramel she would just have to deal with it. As shocked as we were, we remained extremely calm and polite. We were unpleasantly surprised as how annoyed she was. She then walked away and noticed how shocked my wife was at her reaction. She asked if my wife wanted a crepe with just nutella and banana, as if that wasnt what she orginally ordered. Moral of the story...the experiance was dissapointing and we will not be returning. We reccomend taking your...
Read moreMy wife and I went here to celebrate Valentine’s Day together and we had an tremendous experience. The decor is perfect for a little French Bistro and every table had a red rose, which was a really nice touch. We started things off with a glass of wine and a French 75. Both were great. The starters were the Onion Soup Au Gratinée and Foie Gras, which comes with toast points, organic green salad, and sautéed pears. Both were nothing short of fantastic. The entrées were Duck a L'orange and the Lamb Shank. The orange sauce on the duck paired with the juicy dark meat and roasted apple was incredible. The lamb shank just fell off the bone and came with a side of Ratatouille that was the best I’ve ever had. The side of frites came in a basket with newspaper wrap that reminded me of Europe. They were hot, crispy, and perfectly salted. We took home a Mon Cheri Crepe that was unreal. The marinated cherries were the perfect combination of sweet and tart and the chocolate sauce was silky and delicious. I highly recommend this place. If you’re ever near Homer Glen...
