Buffalo Wild Wings — Restaurant in Independence

Horrid experience, last time I was here which was over a year ago and I was hesitant to return because of not so great service and not great food I decided to go since they were open late and we were in the area.

First off we were greeted pretty promptly, wasn’t many people there, probably 3 families in the dining area if that and some people in the bar so I was expecting quick service and semi quick food. Not at all what happened. Our server brought our drinks, asked our order we ordered the appetizer which they were good, nice and hot they came out quickly. Then she came back a few minutes later and we ordered our food, from that point on the service was just horrible. It took I’d say 30 minutes for literally 15 wings and a large fry. Someone else brought our food out and she brought us ranch, then our server disappeared for 20 minutes, never came back to ask how things were, which, not great the fries were luke warm if I’m being generous, and the wings were barely warm. Which her service throughout the night leads me to believe the food probably sat there in the window getting cold while we waited, we both had no drink to the point I had to walk up and ask for a refill, then the lady at the counter sends our waitress with refills, she apologized, I figured ok maybe she’s having an off night, I let it go, she sees we’re finished eating, she brings our check and doesn’t come back, I waited a little over 20 minutes and decided just to go pay up front. I shouldn’t have to go ask for refills, and be chasing a server down. This just nailed the coffin for us, just go to another wing place and save yourself the hassle, unless you really want to get your steps in and get your own refills.

Which this experience was sad because the table right behind us, had a server who was extremely nice and attentive, she visited her table more times since they got there after us than we saw ours at all, she checked on them, their food for a table of four took MAYBE 10-15 minutes and there was only 2 of us. She checked on there drinks minutes in to them having their food, this experience could’ve been a good one. Whoever our server was clearly did not care about providing a good experience even after we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt.

We would’ve considered coming back had the service been good, but time and time again this bww...

Pros - Cheese curds were decent.

Cons - Literally everything else.

We probably should have taken the hint our experience wouldn’t be great given two already sat tables walked out while we waited at the hostess stand - one even said “good luck” as they passed quickly by us. First impressions - you’re hit by a distinct “odor” when entering the restaurant. It’s hard to describe but it is not pleasant. We were sat quickly enough though the host had to ask all the servers which one wanted our group (party of 13). We ordered three appetizers instead of whole meals like the rest of our party. One of the three was the appetizer sampler platter consisting of smaller portions of various appetizers.

Just as everyone’s meals were brought out along with two of our three appetizers, the server informed us that they were out of the onion rings which were part of the sampler platter.

The server apologized and said the manager on duty wasn’t allowing any substitutions or doubling of one of the other sampler apps to make up for the missing onion rings. After requesting a discount on the platter instead - given the missing onion rings - the manager wouldn’t authorize that either. At this point our whole group is staring at the server dumbfounded. I ask “So you want us to pay full price for a menu item missing pieces?”

The server then relays the options offered by the manager on duty: paying full price for a partial appetizer platter, ordering each in stock item on the platter separately (at full app price no less - at 4x the cost of the sampler platter) or declining the appetizer sampler completely. After a lot of blank disbelieving stares at these “offers” we declined the appetizer.

We shared the other appetizer - an order of cheese curds and an order of burnt old fries and left, and will definitely not...

We visited today because I love the nachos! We were waiting on another couple, and my husband mentioned to the server that we invited them because we knew the service would be so amazing! She laughed and promised that it would definitely be amazing. Then we did not see her again for at least 20 minutes.

Once the other couple got there, I stood up and tried to wave her down... She finally showed up 15 min later. They placed their drink order and we also we placed an appetizer order. 10-15 minutes later, she came out with the appetizer but forgot the drinks the other couple ordered, which was only water and Diet Pepsi. She went to get those and when she came back she had half our food. We flagged her down a good 15 to 20 minutes after that and asked for the rest of our food. When she brought it, it was only lukewarm. It had obviously been done for quite some time.

Onto the food... The wings were great, the fried cauliflower would have been good if it wasn't just room temperature, but the nachos were absolutely terrible. No cheese! It was seriously only enough cheese for about a third of the chips. Unfortunately, we could not say anything or ask for more cheese as our server didn't come back until a good 20 minutes after we finished everything else. We were seriously there almost two full hours!

Wow... Very disappointing. And it's unfortunate as we went for one thing and it was the worst food we received. And I'm pretty sure they could have pulled a better server in off the streets! She was not incredibly busy but she was incredibly slow. We did not even see her in the section for the most part so we can only assume she was hanging out in the back.
