Jack's Donuts — Restaurant in Independence

Had to try Jacks after all the raving reviews....and what a disappointment it was! Let alone $21 a dozen you’d expect the most perfect doughnuts ever.... nope. Their icing is just water and powdered sugar, cheap; generic sugar at that. At $21 a dollar add some vanilla and butter already. The doughnuts were a bit heavy, but still airy. A bit overcooked. And the hopeful homemade glazed fell way short of expectations. Probably from the terrible icing. The men working the store were very pleasant and wanted to please. The store was grungy and in need of a fresh coat of paint. I mean, seriously clean that place! The price board is one of the first things you see as you go in and it’s yellow from grease and dirt!!! This place is not worth $21 dozen. Casey’s sells better doughnuts than this place, add in that there’s a Quick trip across the street that sells consistent and delicious doughnuts.. I am a fan of patroning local businesses and I was lookig forward to this one. I was very disappointed as soon as i walked in. There was no air conditioning at all. That immediately turned me off to eating anything from the barely there selection. Food products need to be kept at room temperture or a little cooler. Warm temps such as it was in there bring on mold, not just to the baked goods but also to the ingredients such as the flour. The man behind the counter seemed very friendly to the couple in line but I basically turned around to leave as soon as I walked in, he called out to me which I didn't appreciate. It can be said without a doubt, Jack's donuts is the best in town. And frankly the best I've ever enjoyed. Abdul is a great guy. He loves our country, and he loves serving his customers. He always does a great job. If you want good glazed donuts this is the place. The cake donuts are wonderful as well. The icing tastes just as it should. Donut holes are a favorite but they're hard to get because they sell out so quickly. Come early come often and enjoy Jack's donuts. You'll be glad you did. And by the way, I am a donut aficionado.
