So they nailed desserts out of the park! The gelato was absolutely delicious! The salad bar was nice including really good dressings, I did see a few bad cherry tomatoes. The pizza was pretty good especially for a dining hall and my daughter liked her waffle. I also think it was the best tatertot I've had in my life. There were also some tortilla chips with a dip recipe from another country that was amazing. French fries were much better than average as well.
The eggs and sausage were ok. The burgers looked rough but I didn't have one (can't judge a book by it's cover), but the pasta with marinara and potatoes were pretty much not edible. Especially the pasta. There was also a thin sliced steak that was really dry. Lastly the drink cups are way to small. I doubt they'd care if you were a student and took your own cup in though.
The place was absolutely packed though. With that said I went for an open house so they had regular students plus released a full auditorium of people to go eat at the same time which was crazy.
I know a lot of people get the meal plans but one might consider just going with flex spending and using cash to get groceries and eat off campus. $2,000 is a lot for a semester, something...
Read moreThis is the worst university dininghall I have ever experienced out of the 10 I have been to. 5 years ago the food was decent but this year it was horrendous. Half of oure group got food poisoning. They served raw chicken. They served soup thar was several days old. They serves rotten pulled pork and some kind of an excuse for steak that tasted like it was 6 months old and beginning to decay. I was so embarrassed for my group of over 1,000 people to have had to eat there. This dining hall should lose its license due to serving food that makes people sick and not following decency in making an acceptable product. This dining hall is also not punctual so good luck if your group has a schedule to keep. This happens several times but one morning we were supposed to have breakfast at 6:30 and the doors to the dining hall did not...
Read moreI am a student who utilizes the dining hall. Since IUP only uses North as a dining hall, the lines and seating are usually full and busy at 12-2 o’clock around lunchtime, and 6:45-7:30 or closing time.
Despite being busy, the wonderful cooks and cleaning staff serve every student with a smiling face. Their food is creative and changes on occasion. Some meals include special events ex. Donuts, Steak nights, and Global nights. Must end your meal with fresh baked cookies and cakes, or stop by and chat with the lovely ladies who serve handmade gelato.
Pros: your friend group can always find a seat, food is always available, lots of options. Cons: long lines, cold eggs for hours, one trash receptacle area that fills...
