I apologise for the long review but I'm still upset about the service. The pizza was delicious but I'm not sure it was worth it considering the wait. That's the summary of my review.
I used to come to this Blaze Pizza often for lunch when I went to IUPUI (~2 yrs. ago) and the service was always great. I just went (April 2019) for lunch during work and had the worst experience of any pizza place I've ever been too (as far as service goes). I had about an hour and a half for lunch and got there just before the lunch rush. Somehow I spent an entire hour waiting to order and get my pizza rather than actually enjoying my lunch. I'm not sure what happened to this place but the current workers were not moving with any sense of urgency despite their line growing by the minute due to the lunch crowd coming in. The person taking people's names and starting orders off was one of the slowest workers I've ever seen and was condescending once I started my order (Slow Worker: "Hi, what would you like today?" Me: "I'll have a build my own. Can I get original crust and spicy red sauce?" Slow Worker: ".... You can have whateeevvveer you like further down the line. Can I get your name? *He spelled my name wrong. It's Jonathan, a fairly common name and somehow he managed to put a U and an I in there somehow.) The worker placing the ingredients on the pizzas just walked away at one point to grab more ingredients and was gone for 5 minutes all the while we're stuck waiting in line. Several other workers were ignoring the line to take care of online orders that had JUST come in rather than taking care of the more urgent and present customers that had already started their orders. The only worker that seemed to be moving with a sense of urgency and had any understanding of what customer service is supposed to be was the cashier, unfortunately she was only folding pizza boxes in between customers. At least she was friendly. The guy handling the oven was working hard and was friendly and I interacted with him the least but I still want to give credit where it's due. I wish I could say it was obvious they were short a worker or something but there were like 10 workers there. I just don't understand what was going on. I've been to sit-down pizza restaurants that took less time to prepare a pizza. In the end I was out of time for lunch before I could eat it and had to take it back to work and eat it there. It was delicious but not hot anymore. I'm disappointed and a bit embarrassed to have talked up Blaze Pizza to some of my co-workers. I hope it was just a bad day for them but it's still pretty ridiculous that it...
Read moreWhen we first tried this place a few years ago it was great. From there it has had a steady decline...
I've had both burnt and undercooked pizzas (raw dough in the middle). Even when obviously burnt they only seem to care if the customer complains. Ingredients are sometimes visibly not so fresh. It can be annoying when you get ingredients you don't want (or can't have due to allergy or diet restrictions) because of how sloppy they are often handled.
While the owners note near the top of the review page mentions fast several times, this is always a somewhat slow experience. Do not expect to be in and out in 15min even for a carry out order.
Now talking about our June 10th 2022 at about 8:15pm visit specifically... We had a couple in front of us, another at the register, and a few other pizzas in the oven. So, not busy. Especially for a Friday. It still took nearly 15 minutes for them to start our order. Absolutely zero sense of urgency.
When they started making the pizzas, the guy building them was super stingy with the ingredients. I had to ask for shredded mozzarella 4 times to still not get a dominos pizza amount of cheese coverage. He used a scooper to portion the first light pass. Then it was literally a pinch at a time. Same stingy portions on all the other ingredients. My wife had exactly the same problem when he built hers. The cheese bread looked nothing like the picture and we will definitely never bother with getting it again.
We will probably return but it is going to be even less often since each time the experience gets worse. If the quality was still like it was when we first went, it would probably be a...
Read moreI came in at about 5. There were only a few people seated and about 3 in line. I was impressed with the variety of toppings and low cost. The young man who took my order was very polite. It all went down hill after that. There were three workers standing near by the cash register talking. They continued their conversation without acknowledging me for a couple of minutes. Finally, one of them mumbles something , but made no eye contact so I didn't think she was talking to me. She finally helped me pay and my pizza say waiting to go into the oven while the other two employees finished their conversation. Once they were done talking, one finally sauntered over to put my pizza in the oven. It was done quickly, but when she took it out and haphazardly put the spatula away, she dropped it in the floor. Thank God, she went to the back to clean it, but because she has apparently no urgency, this took several minutes as my pizza sat getting cold. As all of this is happening, there are plenty of be open tables, but they were ALL dirty. One of the three conversationalists, decides to clean the tables, but by this point, I'd already decided that I'd eat in the car. When I finally got my pizza, she tossed it up on to the counter. She must've seen my jaw drop because she then thanked me for coming in. Oh! The best part is that while all of this is going on, there was (who I thought was a a customer studying at a table, she had books out) the manager in who finally put away her files and went to the kitchen to help. There were about 10 people waiting when I left. The food wasn't bad, but the service was awful, I...
