I live in the state but desired a night getaway for my husband and I. I chose this hotel because it was downtown in the heart of it all, and we rarely visit downtown because of how busy it is.
We had a suite with a king-size bed and a nice sized living room area (not captured in the photos) and a great view of the downtown streets. The room was beautiful and clean, and the bed was comfy. My husband kept me up most of the night complaining of itching. We had checked the bed prior to getting into it to ensure no bed bugs, etc.. I was not affected until I switched sides of the bed with him, and then I slightly began to itch, but not as severely as he did.
The street noise could definitely be heard, but that was to be expected, and we had no problem with it.
The next morning, we got ready and headed to breakfast. There was a decent spread. There were waffle makers out to make waffles. There were scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, bananas, juice, and coffee with all condiments.
The representatives at the front desk were friendly and kind but were not very helpful when we had issues with our valet. Apparently, the company is a 3rd party vendor who employs dishonest workers. We stayed in the hotel for one night. When we retrieved our vehicle the next morning, a dent was noticed. We made the valet attendant aware, who pretended to contact his manager via text. We were told the manager was on his way in, but he never arrived, and we had to leave to travel to a neighboring state. We were told a text would be received of an incident ticket to fill out. We never received it. We were also given a number to the "so-called" Valet Manager. After 3 voice messages were left, the woman called back and said we had the wrong number. We had been given the incorrect number by a staff member.
Valet is very convenient, but I will never utilize the service again and because the hotel basically told us their hands were tied because it was a 3rd party vendor, we more than likely will never stay here again. It is a shame, really!
update 11/18/24 I was contacted by Breanna, the assistant general manager of the hotel, who wanted details of the incident that took place with the valet. Once all of the details were given, she stated she would need some time to speak with her valet team. Four days later, I received an unprofessional email from her stating that her valet manager was trying to reach me and wanted to know my number. I gave her my number and then had to follow up with another email addressing her unprofessionalism and the tone set in her email.
I must state for the record that her valet manager NEVER dialed the phone number that we reserved our room under, my spouse's number, nor was a voice message left. Seems like dishonesty is something of the norm there.
I told her there was really no need to even call back because her entire unprofessional disposition had left me unimpressed. My interaction with her was enough to ensure I never set foot in a Hilton establishment or any of their affiliates. Furthermore, I will definitely be informing my friends and family who are huge travelers about my overall experience and suggest they follow suit.

Read moreOverall 4.75 stars. We were in town for my child's swim meet. There were teams from 5 different states for the meet, and there were basketball and football games that weekend. The area was very crowded which impacted parking at the hotel. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The front desk staff were very nice during check in/out.
If you're driving, you either self park in the garage or valet. There's a charge for both. When the hotel site says limited self parking, they mean it. Due to all of the events, there were no self parking spots available, so I wound up having to use valet. It was only $3 more, so not a big deal. The valet workers were nice and explained how the process works. You text when you want your car brought up. Each time I texted before leaving my room. When I arrived downstairs, my car was there.
I loved the room's aesthetic! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The furnishings are up to date. There are USB ports in the outlets on both nightstands and on both sides of the TV counter. The alarm clock is also a charging pad, so there are plenty of options to power your electronics.
The bathroom is spacious. They have the attached liquid hand soap and lotion dispensers by the sink. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles are also attached on the shower wall. This was a shower only bathroom, no tub. There is a bar in the bottom shower corner for you to use when washing/shaving your legs. Loved that feature!
The only problem was the bathroom fan. I turned off the bathroom fan and light at bedtime. After a few moments, I realized the was a loud grinding/screeching noise coming from the bathroom. I went to the bathroom and turned on the light and fan. The noise stopped. I turned the fan off, the noise started back up again. I was only staying overnight, so I just left the fan on to avoid that horrible screeching/grinding noise while I slept. Except for the weird fan noise, this was a 5 star stay. I would stay here again just check the fan before...
Read moreFirst, the rooms, location and noise levels were all fine. It's a nice hotel - the lobby was once a historic AME church. The service from hotel staff was also good. The problem was parking. Let me say I hardly ever leave reviews for anything good or bad, but I do tend to leave reviews when I'm highly pissed. The self parking rate for the hotel is $37. This is excessive considering this area is removed from the rest of downtown and definitely not a bustling area where you can walk to things. You can't pay for parking with your room and the only way to pay is using your phone. I had some trouble with my corporate card the first day and told the valet I would pay the next day. He said not a big deal as long as I pay before I leave. The next day I had an ugly letter on my car stating I need to register and pay. I left and came back later in same day and they put the same letter on my car again. I paid the $185 the next day. The following morning I had a notice on my car that I was not registered and to register and pay. I called the hotel who called Timothy the parking manager - I was told he would return my call - he never did. This morning I wake up to another ugly notice on my car stating it's an oversized vehicle and would have to be valet parked for additional fees. My coworker is also staying at this hotel and has been dealing with the same issues. We both have Jeep Compass rental cars. It is by no means oversized and fits perfectly in the spot. I'm leaving in the morning and will NEVER stay at this hotel again. I travel a lot for work and this is the first time I feel harassed and intimidated by a hotel. My coworker actually parked in the street by a lifeless Starbucks - Not in the garage and no where close to the hotel. She got the same pay up notice from the hotel parking Nazis. They control the public street too? Avoid this hotel at all...
