Such a fun space but not at all for little ones. The only thing that would have worked would have been the web swings but those were being used by some older teens happy to be away from the mother and grandmother. Once we heard enough of that conversation while waiting our turn we need to the other side and I just let him crawl around. Once he's walking a bit it will be more fun for him.
Free street parking which is cool. We parked right by the handicap sign showing accessibility for there Playspace but it ran us right into the stairs where there were no more signs and we had to figure it out for ourselves. You have to walk through a private parking lot to the opposite corner. There are no safe sidewalks at the point (we could have gone so the way around the parking lot in the sidewalk had the handicap signage not directed us to the stairs). No biggie now that we know. Read moreThe Indianapolis Colts Canal Playspace is such a fantastic spot for families! Tucked along the scenic Downtown Canal Walk, this play area is bright, clean, and full of fun, safe features that keep kids entertained while adults enjoy the beautiful views.
The Colts-themed equipment is a big hit—especially the turf field, climbing structures, and interactive play zones. It’s well-maintained and thoughtfully designed to encourage creativity, movement, and social play. You can tell a lot of care went into making this a standout space for all ages.
What makes it even better is the location—it’s right on the canal, surrounded by walkways, greenery, and close to other attractions like the Indiana State Museum and the Eiteljorg. It’s a perfect stop during a downtown walk or family outing.
We always leave with smiles (and tired kids!). Highly recommend this spot for locals and visitors alike—it’s one of the best free play areas in...

The sign to the play area mentions for 5+ age but honestly looking at all the climbing I would be inclined to say 8+. (The very short time we were here, there was a 4 or 5 year old climbing on something and she was scared and needed help down). Not safe for little ones!!!!!!!
There was a wide slide, however it’s metal. They thought of putting a sun cover over it but when it’s 80+ out, that won’t even matter.
The ONLY thing my two year old daughter could play on were these two circle web swings which was really wonderful! Wished they had more stuff like that. It’s a beautiful area it’s just too bad this playground wasn’t also built for younger ages so all toddler and kids of ALL ages could play...
