This Dunkin was my frenemy for, maybe, the last four years (give or take), and although I rated the store, I didn't want to be nasty and dramatic about a bagel and iced coffee (in public). I'm not . But I am not joking at all when I say that I had negative interactions or order incorrect or out of everything bagels or "stop shouting at me in the drive thru at dawn angry lady " or that little red led row of numbers below the window - if asked to pay a different amount, please call... " and I remember wondering why the heck would this store need such a thing (I'm not sure what other customers are like, but I would guess I'm a little bit less frequent a visitor. I go only twice a month as a special treat to myself and I don't usually spend more than $10. I suppose other customers are neighbors, but one might infer that they fit DD's target demographics. (All of the dyed-in-the-wool DD people fit at least one or more key features - my heartstrings are tugged when I see/hear an ad and remember something about a childhood donut run back in the 1980's, when the store was on the south side of the street, much roomier and never out of the bagels you needed). One ugly image reset/remodel that tore down the old and sped in the more current version of ugliness around the late 1990's, and then, oh! It's a beautiful thing. DD was a treat for me in middle school in MA, a go-to staple when the soccer coach needed a parent to bring snacks for the varsity team home game in high school... And what college student hasn't experimented with caffeine during midterms before going ahead with the IV drip when finals week exams demand caffeine sacrifices almost hourly...and when I was a young adult in Connecticut the town I lived in was so small we didn't have either a corporate or franchise local DD. What I did have was a mother-in-law who worked at the only coffee shop with a brisk drive thru line because they brewed only DD beans and related condiments (unbranded sugar packets, wobbly bags of creamer and Styrofoam cups with the same kind of lids). Hallelujah, Amen! And another hallelujah for we who Run on DD, finding our caffeine and sugar when it's needed the most - when you're bored and feeling trapped in the unexplored caverns of natural ecology of back-asswards (or BFE) little blip of a town in Connecticut. When I started driving myself all over New England enjoying being surrounded in Massachusetts with DD stores being used as reference points for lost tourists trying to find their way to Walden Pond in September with any imaginable number of DD landmarks in one detour, depending on how many times some Leafer had asked for a car to be parked in Harvard Yard. If you get the DD addiction in its native habitat, it really sticks on a girl drinking iced coffee in Nor'Easter weather but other than a fuzzy kind of sleepy anger at being awake and needing my DD before I am a fully caffeinated I'm-about-to-tackle-the-world-so-stop-riding-my-rear-end-in-this-tiny-walled-in-driveway-grumpy-person-who-lacks-a-raison d'ĂȘtre! Make way! (Hopefully there isn't a delivery driver unloading during the mid-morning hours with sleepy-eyed cranky car drivers break-testing each other 6" at a time while leaving space for the person with a hand truck... which is sort of fun, like a live game of Frogger in expensive bumper cars. I know the store had a not so good employee turnover rate for a couple of years, but I think they've upgraded their staffing quality considerably... And the speaker in the drive through too. I guess the lack of a preferred bagel is probably my bad after the breakfast rush. I've actually seen managers on the floor hoofing it as hard as anyone else, which is newish to me and very appreciated since I believed them to be mythical creatures in past years. Food is still good for on the run, coffee as hot or cold as it should be, and I've watched employees making these foodstuffs using Serve Safe guidelines for cleaning utensils between drinks. Very happy with the about face and my French vanilla...
Read moreIâve given this location a few tries in the past and this most recent one has been the worst. I pull into the drive-thru to order two medium drinks. I have chronic IBS and really needed to use the bathroom so I asked if their lobby was open and they told me that it wasnât. When I get to the window, a blonde girl asks if I had two larges and I let her know that they were ordered as medium drinks. Of course, under the circumstances previously mentioned, I had a bit of urgency in my voice and another lady making drinks turned and told me to calm down. I chose not to engage and asked someone else why they hasnât opened their lobby like the other Dunkinâ Donuts in the area and the same lady who told me to calm down inserted herself into the conversation again with the excuse that theyâre short staffed. As Iâve mentioned in my other Dunkinâ reviews, several folks in management have told me that theyâve made plans to reopen and based on this I let them know that the two stores I frequent are understaffed as well (simply as a conversational response) and she cut me off saying, âNo they arenât. Donât come to this windowâ. The gentleman who initially took my order stopped her and said she doesnât need to explain anything to me. This attitude and treatment of customers from these two individuals is absolutely unacceptable. They donât know me and my conditions, nearly overcharged me, and refused to talk to me like a human being. Absolutely disgraceful and I will be filing a...
Read moreI walled in Monday to placed an order for 600 Donut holes to pick up Subday at 7. The person taking my order said he didn't know how to take the order in dozens but I can buy them in 5 or 10 holes. I asked him to please confirm. He came back saying he can take the order per 50 holes per box. So that's 12 boxes. He placed the order. I paid $84. Went this morning after realizing he only ordered 6 boxes of 50 holes. Well guess what, order was not ready. Manager said he didn't have any to give me but he could give me 4 boxes of 50. He said he didn't get the order. He didn't know about it. After arguing a d nothing I could do. I got my credit back and he had the nerve to throw me out of the store. He never said he was sorry. I will NEVER order from them again. Oh let me said we order this every year for the last 7 years on this day. This was awful...
