I’m giving a one star based upon my experience though I ordered food for a group of colleagues and they seemed to like there food.for that reason I am giving a three star to be fair. The aztec ribeye wasn’t cooked enough. I asked for medium well and it was practically raw. I ended up having to re-cook it. The mash potatoes and the green onion where good but I just felt like there should of been more. This was probably the second most expensive item on the menu and the sauce for the meat was almost smeared on the tin. The people there where professional and friendly so I don’t want this to be misconstrued as an attack on the staff. It’s just when you spend almost eighty dollars I expected to get more. The salsa tasted like it was just brought out of a can. It just had a weird texture and didn’t taste fresh. It didn’t really have much taste to it at all but kind of watery soup. The same gos for the guacamole. Growing up as a kid I ate Mexican food at my parents friends house and my parents would take me out to Mexican restaurants as well. I loved the spices and the cilantro and much more but you see the salsa and the guacamole didn’t have that zest. I came back to get my receipt since I was only given the line copy and I needed it for my personal and financial records. They where kind enough to oblige me. I realized after getting the receipt and walking out the door that the man who had handed me back my change from the first visit had actually shorted me something like seventy cents. As the realization hit me I decided to let it go. The woman who handed me the receipt was very kind and I didn’t want to cause the man any trouble. As I stood there thinking in contemplation. I felt compelled to give a tip. Before I had brushed the thought away simply because it was a carry out and I was simply picking up the food but I felt compelled and I went back in after standing there strangely in the parking lot for a moments ponder. After going back in the kind woman had disappeared to the back. I left ten dollars on the table. Now I’m retrospect I wonder if I had a mistake. Had a cast my pearls to swine? I don’t know. That is why I love small mom and pop shops because when I eat there at least I know I will be getting authentic Mexican food. The people that cook a meal for there grandmother would be cooking the same meal for me. That’s the danger in big chains...
Read moreNever going back! Firstly, the queso and chips were room temperature (the next batch of chips were good) but I wouldn't have bought that queso if I knew it wasn't going to be hot. Then we told our server (older woman with glasses) that my friend and I were sharing the two chimichangas and would be splitting our bill, she said okay. We ran out I'd chips quickly since there was 4 of us. She never came back. 10 min later a guy brought us some. She brought our food out right after our chips and I asked if our chimi's cane with lettuce and sour cream and she said no, just beans and rice...most other Mexican restaurants come with that, so that was disappointing. And our chimi's were not even fried! :( so later she brought our 3 checks out, she didn't split my friend and mine. So I put both cards on the book and said "can you split it in half and use both cards please" and she took our other friends bills and just left ours sitting on the table. When she came back we asked her again and she said she couldn't split them and walked away really quick! Finally she walked past our table, I told her "since you can't split it in two can you please do a new receipt with two drinks and queso on one, and then the chimichanga on another?" She said no and then walked away, she came back and said talk to the guy at the register. He split our bill right away after she told us 3 times she couldn't. Everyone thought the food didn't taste as good as the other el mesons and the service was terrible. Don't...
Read moreEl Meson Mexican Restaurant is hands down one of the best spots for authentic Mexican food in the area. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with warm smiles, vibrant décor, and the irresistible smell of homemade cooking.
The menu is packed with traditional dishes that are clearly made from scratch with love and heritage. We started with the tableside guacamole, which was fresh, zesty, and perfectly seasoned. The chips and salsa were warm and crisp — you can tell they don’t cut corners here.
For entrées, the carne asada was absolutely outstanding — tender, juicy, and packed with that delicious chargrilled flavor. The enchiladas with mole sauce were rich and complex, showcasing the kind of bold, layered taste you can only get from a truly authentic kitchen. Even the rice and beans were flavorful and cooked to perfection — a rare treat!
The service was excellent. Our server, Gi Gi was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. Plus, she brought out the BEST fried ice cream! You can tell the team here takes pride in what they do.
Don’t leave without trying the flan or a refreshing horchata — both are the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable meal.
Whether you’re a regular or trying it for the first time, El Meson delivers a true taste of Mexico every single time. Highly...
