My wife and I were Car shopping in Indianapolis. She (randomly) said she wanted some Catfish. I searched and found Golden's. I read the reviews and chose to drive 25 minutes "out of our way" to get there. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT! The Owner/Manager greeted us as we walked in the front door. He recognized that we had never eaten here and suggested various options. We both ordered the 3pc Catfish Meal (fries and a drink)...my wife ordered a side of coleslaw as well. Absolutely Delicious! HUGE pieces of Catfish (seasoned with Lemon Pepper) The Fries....all I can say is WOW. The Fries had a taste all their own...whatever he uses to season them/cook them...has me craving them as I write this. From the Owner/Manager greating us as we entered...to the recommendations (friendly service)...to the delivery of our food to our table (along with all applicable condiments)...to the follow up as we were throwing away our trash/preparing to leave....IF YOU LIKE TO EAT.....IF YOU APPRECIATE GOOD FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE...Golden's Fish & Chicken should be your destination. Next time we visit Indianapolis, we will without a doubt make our way back...
Read moreOn 03/17/23 I traveled from the NE side of town, there are closer Fish restaurants nearby, because of the previous good service & food I received prior. I looked online on there website & saw the 15 piece fish meal for $24.99, when I placed my order for this I was told it was $32.69, I asked why, and was told online is not the correct price. I still ordered since I traveled so far, however, when I got home, I didn't have any fries, which really disappointed and ruined my whole meal, and the fish this time, wasn't very good, I ate a few pieces & threw the rest in in the trash, I did call and expressed how disappointed I was, and was offered 2 large fries, but it was too late, and I expressed how I don't live close by, and that I come there for the service, which wasn't very good this time, they took my information & told me come into get my 2 free fries, but I don't think anyone would remember me, and I'm not going to explain the reason again ,needless to say, I won't be returning to this...

Tucked into a modest strip mall just off 71st and Binford, Golden’s Fish & Chicken is still holding it down as a go-to spot for hot, crispy comfort food. It’s been more than five years since I last ordered, so today I decided to stay in and give it another shot—this time via DoorDash.
I went with the large perch dinner: five pieces of perch and a side of fries. The fish came in hot, breaded just right with a satisfying crunch in every bite. Golden’s knows how to do fish—no complaints there. The fries were solid, too.
But the mushrooms? Total letdown.
I’m a fan of breaded mushrooms, but these were tough to eat. They tasted burnt, more like something scooped out of a freezer bag than made in-house. If these are a regular item, it might be time to rethink them. Fresh mushrooms, breaded on-site, could turn this side around completely. As it stands now, they’re not worth it.
Aside from that, the meal hit the spot. Just a heads up—mushroom...
