This is currently my favorite coffee joint. The coffee taste clean and fresh and it is roasted right here in Indianapolis. I have tried a number of local roasters, this one is among the top. I normally frequent the Pennsylvania St. location, but have gone to the store in Carmel at the City Center and found the coffee just as good there.
The location at Pennsylvania St is great. The move people through quickly. The baristas are pleasant and accommodating with special requests (from what I have noticed, I rarely have special requests except for an extra cup at times). They have free wifi and it looks like a good place to work. I have seen people in here working, but I have yet to try it.
Need a treat to go with that coffee. I suggest the scones. Although there are several others to try, and I have heard the others are just as good, the scones keep me wanting more.
For the kicker, I am a rewards fiend. I love getting points, rewards, bogos, coupons... I like getting a deal. Hubbard & Cravens has a loyalty app that I installed on my iPhone. 10th coffee free type of thing. You buy a coffee, scan a code, get points... It works...
Read moreHubbard & Cravens Coffee Co, in an attempt to sidestep the ubiquitous Starbucks experience, unfortunately, mirrored it more than I hoped. The coffee shop had that typical hipster vibe which is usually appealing, but it lacked the uniqueness and warmth that can make these places stand out.
Upon entering, I noticed the staff seemed rather indifferent. They didn't seem particularly welcoming as I approached the menu, and there was a noticeable hesitation as I made my way to order, which felt a bit unwelcoming.
The pricing also left something to be desired. I ordered an Acai Refresher, which came out to nearly $7 after tax and tip. For that price, I was expecting something exceptional, but what I received was pretty standard fare that didn't distinguish itself much from what you might find at a larger chain like Starbucks.
Overall, while I was hoping for a unique coffee shop experience that would offer something different from the standard chain offerings, Hubbard & Cravens felt all too familiar in not the best ways. It might serve as a convenient stop for a quick caffeine fix, but it didn't live up to the expectations set by its...
Read moreI just stopped in today for the first time while exploring a little of Indianapolis. Yes, I'm a little bit biased because of the name BUT the shop, service and selection was fantastic.
The shop sits in a very scenic Broad Ripple, a little suburb of Indianapolis. The area is very high end with little shops and beautiful homes everywhere.
The shop itself sits tucked away in a petite shopping center at its very back. It has a very small, yet cozy feeling as you walk in, similar to a cottage feel and the aromatics pull you further.
They have a great selection of incredible coffees and pastries and the baristas are well versed in their craft. The pricing is a little less than the over-rated monopoly that is Starbucks and the quality of everything is in my opinion much greater.
If you are in or near the area are you are anything from a coffee connoisseur or someone who just likes the occasional cup of Joe, this place is definitely worth a visit.
I will...
