BEST TACOS IN INDIANA
I've had tacos at a Michelin rated taco restaurant. I've had them at the best places in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Julieta Taco Shop is in the top category of amazing tacos. If you want tacos this good, there's nowhere in Indiana you'll find anything this good. You'd have to go to Chicago or LA to find anything at this level.
The quality is too notch, from their handmade tortillas and variety of salsas to pick from. We had suadero, carnitas, and al pastor tacos and added different combinations of salsa. We really liked the spicy chipotle based sauce mixed with the medium tomato/garlic based sauce - amazing flavor that elevates the already juicy and flavorful meats.
We're super excited to have finally found a good taco spot in Indy because the options on Mass Ave are NOT it. If you're looking for a taco spot, come here because I want this place to never go away. The tacos are more on the expensive side, but they're massive and well worth it in quality and taste.
I'm addicted to this place and I'm giving...
Read moreMy impression is that this place is trying to capture the feel of an authentic taco shop — almost as if they followed a guide — but for me, it didn’t quite hit the mark. The steak, in particular, tasted and looked more like stew meat, which made it tough to enjoy and left me pulling it from my teeth the rest of the day.
It also leans heavily into a trendy, hipster-focused atmosphere, which fits the surrounding neighborhood. So if you’re looking for a modern, stylized twist on tacos, this might be your spot.
That said, at nearly $25 for just three tacos and a drink, it’s one of the most expensive taco experiences I’ve come across in Indy. For that price, I’d expect better quality meat and a more memorable meal overall.
If you’re after true taco truck-style street tacos that leave you craving more, this probably isn’t it. But if you're just looking for tacos in a fun setting and authenticity isn’t your top priority, it might still be...
Read moreDue to the excellence of my solo first visit about 3 weeks ago, I returned today getting lunch for my spouse and visiting 28 year old grandson. I ordered 2 Al Pastor and 1 Carnitas Tortas all with sides of rice and beans and guacamole and elections of both hot sauces. Having had the Al Pastor before, I knew they were one of the best meals I have had in Indy. All agreed with that assessment and enjoyed the Carnitas torta as or almost as much. I entered the shop second at opening and walked out with this feast at 11:18. Excellent service with great food and reasonable pricing. One of our go to destinations from now on. I should mention I traveled from my residence N.E. of Lebanon to get it and will gladly do so again. Note: they occasionally prepare Chile Rellenos, but not as a regular menu item. Street parking at 11 AM...
