Very disappointing birthday dinner. The salads and desserts looks great. I had the coconut cake. It was fresh and rich but very sweet. Delicious. My companion had the strawberry shortcake cake. Tasted fresh and not too sweet. Large portions on both. Now on the actual food. This was the worst meal I have had in a long time. We spent almost $60 here. We both had the cabbage which was cooked down to mush, it was almost white. I ordered it against my better judgment hoping it would have a good flavor. Boy was I wrong. It had no seasoning or texture. We added salt and pepper when we got to the table but to no avail. The only baked chicken offering they had was barbecued chicken quarters. My chicken was raw at the bone. The flavor was okay. They didn't have any baked chicken besides the barbecue quarters with the sauce already on it. They had two pieces of dried tilapia laying up there and what I think was a dried out crusted tilapia or some other type of fish. Some unidentifiable stuffed meat dish. The butt end of a roast beef was laying there begging to be thrown into the trash. The macaroni and cheese was mediocre at best. Very thick. I don' usually order macaroni and cheese out but I took a chance. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't very cheesy. My companion added butter to help it out. He also added butter to his cabbage to help it out. The service was outstanding. The waitress or whatever you call her came by and refilled our water and brought us silverware and checked on us multiple times. Very friendly staff. My companion said the dinner rolls were warm and tasty. It was a rainy day and we were in the mood for comfort food and as I said this was my birthday dinner. I'm very disappointed that my companion spent over $50 for a horrible meal. I've been here several times and this place has really declined. I had stopped going for this very reason. I used to stop by there and get there Cobb salad on occasion but their hot bar is a hot mess. No white meat chicken? The only chicken was baked dark meat with sweet barbecue sauce on it and they also had fried chicken but it looked so hard. We didn't want to take a chance. It had obviously be sitting there for a long time. My chicken wasn't even cooked all the way through.y friend got sick later in the evening. Was it the chicken? We don't know. For the amount of money they charge, it was really a horrible meal. We should have just thrown $60 in the trash. They ruined my birthday UPDATE: I was contacted by MCL. They were very apologetic and kind. Luckily they agreed to make this right. I will repost again as to the food quality after our next dining experience. It's great they cared enough to respond with a...
Read moreFood was less than appetizing, it was cold, looked and tasted like it had been out all day, when asked how it worked because we hadn't been there before we were told to "Grab a tray and add whatever you want to eat" upon entering there were two separate menus, one that listed sides and prices next as if it meant for a la cart pricing and main dishes on the other menu with prices for the main dish which had meal next to some of the names, no sides were included in many but there was in some (which we ultimately didn't learn until looking at our receipt) which also showed we were rang up for an additional drink. We spoke with a fella about fixing it, I sis not get his name, he was kind and very helpful, also had a waiter who was very kind and heated our food as it was cold, he got refills and asked if there was anything we needed, he was great. So OVERALL the girl who greeted us could have been more helpful, the food was over priced, cold and sub par (however their chicken and their catfish were very good once they were warm) but the waiter and the people we asked for help we're very...
Read moreGreat home style food! The only caution is that they don't always honor the special of the day even though it's listed on the menu board. This could greatly change the price you pay for your meal. I purchased the required items for the $6.99 value plate of the day (tilapia, 2 sides, and a bread) and there was only one type of tilapia fillet on the serving line However, when I paid for the meal, it totaled over $15. I informed the cashier that I had the value plate listed on the menu. She said that the tilapia on the value plate is a smaller portion and that the special of the day was the one listed on the menu for another day. 1) If the menu is incorrect then it should be changed so customers aren't confused. 2) If the fish entree is a specific size then either have both sizes available on the line or remove the special from the menu if you don't have that particular item so customers don't purchase the wrong item. The price between a value meal and purchasing the same items a la carte makes a...
