We were traveling and thought some chilli spaghetti sounded good. We got there about 15 mins until closing time. We weren't aware of the hours. We ordered and they started packing our order to go. I asked if we can stay to eat and the "manager" said if you ca finish in 5 mins. They still have us our food in to go containers. How to eat chilli spaghetti in cups with spoons while in a car? They seemed rude and wanted us out. I probably had three bites of spaghetti in a 12 oz cup. While another couple was sitting and eating a plate of it at a table. I had also ordered coleslaw and when I opened it up to eat it...it only contained 2 tablespoons. I paid 1.49 for that?? The taste wasnt bad...but the service was unfriendly. For us traveling...we were hungry and didnt know of another place to go. We left disappointed after a nice day at the museum. Maybe this is a neighborhood hangout and neighbors are treated better??? But they shouldn't forget that many people travel to site see and we bring a lot of money to the surrounding businesses. We wont go back. Unfortunately, they missed the mark. At least the menu...
Read moreI went to Nick's chili to feed an retirement party. I called the day before on Wednesday and asked about their catering options, that I would be needing to get 2 gallons of chili and 30 to 40 hotdogs for a Retirement party. Then the next day I called in and said I wanted to get the Chili but only wanted 1 gallon of chili and 50 plain hotdogs. They took my order and said they would need some time. I said that would be fine. I called in at 10:30 am and said if they could have it done by 11:30 that would be great. The lady said that would be great, and see you in an hour. I showed up at 11:26 to be told they could not do the order the guy at the grill said I am not doing that today and you need to give 24 hour notice I said I did that I called yesterday. The lady replied I am sorry and the guy keep saying I am not doing that today. Dont ever come here this may be a really old place and good food but seems the employees there don't like to work.
Thanks to City Barbeque for accommodating my party and actually...
Read moreI was in Indianapolis for three months to do an internship with the Indianapolis Zoo, and I wanted to sample the local culture, so I stopped by Nick's Chili on a cold, windy, snowy day. I had the 5-way chili, a quarter-pound hamburger, and the pecan pie. The chili was excellent, a hearty serving with a healthy heap of meat and red beans, not too greasy or spicy and just the right temperature to eat immediately. The chili could make a meal all on its own. The burger was also good, cooked all the way through and delivered to my table when it was ready. The pecan pie was the only downside; as a native Southerner, I've experienced a wide variety of pecan pies, and this slice wasn't great. Overall, if you want cheap, fast food that will fill you up without emptying your wallet, I can recommend Nick's Chili Parlor for both individual and family dining. I will definitely be going back for a second serving...
