When I was reading the reviews, I was skeptical. Too many places pay for good reviews so I try to take them with a grain of salt, so to speak. We're from Florida and while our Outback is ok... It's nothing to write home about. However, going to this Outback in Greenwood... People... When I tell you go there, go there! I'd love to keep this place a cozy secret so it doesn't get too packed, but, that would be selfish. We were sat immediately, no wait time. Which is unheard of. I literally dropped my partner at the door so he could put us on the wait list while myself and the kids went to park the car. We weren't gone long and thought my partner would've been standing out front having a cigarette while waiting. He was not. So we went in to find out what was going on. One of the kids suggested maybe he was using the restroom, because, how could there be no wait? We went on a Friday evening about 6pm ish, so maybe we were at the back end of the dinner rush? Anyway. The hostess was running around the restaurant helping out and checking tables but as soon as she saw us, she bee lined to us. She helped us find my partner and we were sat. The waiter showed up pretty much immediately to take our drink and appetizer order. When he brought the drinks, he apologized for the wait on the appetizer and the "chaos", we were so confused because it didn't seem chaotic and the waiter was very efficient. We got our bread and appetizer, darn near cooked to perfection (the blooming onion, a small portion was slightly under cooked because of the way it bloomed while cooking). He took our dinner order, my daughter got the chicken and shrimp Alfredo but didn't want the shrimp so we asked for it on the side. He double checked if it was preference or allergy to keep my daughter safe, which was amazing. When I ordered my salad he double-checked the toppings I wanted on it and the ones I removed he offered alternatives which I've never had from a waiter before. As We were slowing on the appetizer and bread, our food was timed perfectly and we received our food. I had French onion soup, a salad, steak and ribs. The steak was a sirloin and it was darn near as soft as the ribeye. Just a touch under the softness of the ribeye. It was cooked to perfection and it was seasoned wonderfully, not over seasoned or under seasoned. I didn't need anything to add to it to eat it. The ribs will fall off the bone. My partner got the ribeye. His steak was amazing. Melt in your mouth, cooked to perfection, soft, holy moly. I don't typically like alfredo, my daughter had me try hers and I would absolutely eat that alfredo any day of the week. My partner does not like French onion soup. I've tried to get him to eat it on multiple occasions at different restaurants. He was leery to try it here and it was so good, We ended up getting two helpings to go along with the one I had at the table. He and my daughter helped me eat the one at the table, and he helped me eat the one I brought home. My daughter's helping is still in the fridge, But I will bet it won't make it past today LOL. My son got the. I do believe it was called the Alice chicken and steak combo. The chicken was tender and flavorful and his steak was just as good as the rest of ours. I would absolutely go to this restaurant again. They were very efficient. They apologized so many times if they felt that it was taking too long. They were very friendly without being overly friendly. Very attentive. The manager even came over and checked on us. The restaurant was clean. You could tell people were there without it being overwhelming and too loud. The prices were reasonable. It was...
Read moreI went with a friend last Thursday July 18, 2024 it was around 5:30pm. My friend ordered the 3 Course meal with the 6oz Sirloin. I ordered the Turf and Reef special, with as a 6oz Fillet and Grilled Sea Scallops and Grilled Shrimp. When our meals came out the steaks looked identical. In fact my friend commented that my steak looked exactly like hers and I agreed. In the past when I have gotten a Filet it is so tender you can cut it with a fork. But this steak had to be cut with a knife, there was no way to get a piece without a knife. I first brought it to the attention of our server, that I was certain that I was eating a sirloin and not a filet, he was adamant that I was eating a filet and that the cook had been there for 9 months and he certainly knew the difference between the two cuts of steaks. He told me that the chew and mouth feel were completely different and I agree that's why I certain that I was eating a sirloin. My friend gave me a bite of her steak and it was identical to the one I was eating. So when the server came back I told him again that I was eating a sirloin and that I had tried my friend's sirloin and there was no difference. He kept assuring me that I was eating a filet. A few minutes later the manager came to my table and said "I understand that you have a problem with your filet." I said "I have a problem with this sirloin not being a filet when ordered a filet." He was insisting that I was eating a filet. I showed him that I couldn't cut it with a fork and had to saw it with a knife. He had me turn it sideways so he could see the grain and he had my friend turn hers sideways so he could see hers and finally he sad "you're eating a sirloin." I said "Thank you! Thank you!" "I thought I was losing my mind or being gaslighted!" Then I was asked what did I want them to do about it? I said well I ordered a filet and I wanted to eat a filet and I am almost finished with this sirloin. He said we can take this one back and make you a filet. I asked about a discount on the meal at least down to the sirloin price. He said something about the bill already being rang up. I questioned again and he said I guess we could give you a discount or make you a filet. My friend then spoke up and said are you offering to cook her a filet to take home and he said yes if that's what she wanted me to do. I agreed to have them cook me a medium filet to go. When it finally came out it was cooked well done. I was then told if I had wanted it medium then I should have ordered it medium rare because they have a new grill and it heats hot. So how was I supposed to know that especially when my first steak came out medium. Ridiculous!!! Then they add $26 to my bill and then comped it but put a tip suggestion on a bill as though I had ordered a filet to go and they had done me a favor. Very...
Read moreIf I could give this review zero stars I would. First I asked the server if they had a porter beer but he couldn't tell me. He said he thinks so but couldn't remember the name. He was no go getter so I ordered an IPA. Next I ordered a porterhouse, baked potato, and grilled asparagus. He said they were out of porterhouse steaks. Now that is crazy but it gets crazier. I ordered the NY strip instead. A few minutes later the server comes back and says they are out of baked potatoes! I should have left at this point but I ordered the loaded sweet potato instead. It's not like we showed up at closing time, it was 6pm. The IPA beer I ordered came in a bottle with no beer mug. I took one sip, set it down on the table and it began foaming out onto the table. I cleaned it up with the cloth napkin and asked him for a mug and another napkin because I had to clean up the mess with the one I had. He brought me a couple paper napkins to clean up the mess. He wasn't paying attention. I wanted another cloth napkin for my meal. The steak was soso. Fatty? Yes. Grilled? Not so sure, it seemed more fried than anything but I'm guessing here. Definitely not worth $24.99. The asparagus was tasteless due to it being old. I grew up on a farm, I know an old veggie when I get one. I can't believe I paid an up-charge for it. The sweet potato was not edible. It was mushy, it seemed like it had been pureed...disgusting! My wife ordered the grilled chicken. It only came with one side. She ordered the side salad as the side which came out early like most restaurants which give you a side salad with your meal. So, when the chicken came out that is all there was, a plate with a piece of chicken on it. It was covered in black pepper and burned her mouth and lips. I'm not one to complain at a restaurant. I'll take note, leave a small tip, leave a bad review, and never return. It would have gone a long way had they offered a discount for not having the 3 items...
