We arrived when the place was almost empty. Started with the Bison nachos and a Bloody Mary. At first the service was at the level you would expect from an establishment of this caliber. The nachos were good, not great and the Bloody Mary was below average, no spice and watered down. However, after the appetizer was served, our waitress, we shall call her Ms A., seemed to have peaced out. The main course, a kitchen sink Bison burger with onion rings, was served from someone from the kitchen. The burger was pretty good and the onion rings were among the best I have ever had. Was Ms A. still around? Yes, yes she was. We were seated in a both across from the bar and her and a gentleman, Mr. J., were in plain sight bar- tending for a hand full of people. We were also within earshot. Ms A., was heading out for 20 minutes and was asking whether she needed a coat or not. Meanwhile I am missing the sauces for my onion rings, which Mr. J. eventually brought after I had ate half of them. Having finished a mediocre meal we waited for our check to arrive. And waited and waited. Finally Mr. J. came and asked if we were done. Yes, we were done, done with the whole experience. He took our plates and didn't even ask if we were interested in dessert. Ted, I would like to point out that having bar tenders also waiting on tables is NOT a good idea. It does not work. I have had better service at a drive-thru. I would also like to point out that there are hundreds of other great places to eat in the Indy area where service is outstanding, dozens of such establishments within a few miles of your restaurant and even a few within a stones throw. Ted, perhaps I should thank you for making my choice of where to eat while in Indy easier as I have scratched one off the list of great places to go....
Read moreIf you've never been to the restaurant the sign (Ted's Montana is not very big at all). We only drove passed it, like three or four times, (And the ppl we met there said, the same thing). The food was really good, that's where the two stars came from, but why.. when we asked for napkins, the waitress said, this is all we have, (meaning the napkins rolled w/ in the silverware). Ridiculous! Are waitress, maybe should have had someone helping her, because she was not very tentative to us, one of are family members never gotten her drink refilled, from the very first drink she had, (when she arrived). when one of the young ladies brought the food out, (not our waitress). She gave the wrong plates out, then said, "that is what we told her", also the salmon that came out, was not cooked properly, the waitress had to take it back, she took her time bringing out one of our family members drink, they ordered, did not come back and check on us, we had to tell the others (waitresses walking around). Could we have this, or could you get are waitress, she stayed away from are table, completely, unless she knew it was a problem. When we all got are bill, a couple of are family members bill was mixed up, several times, (pretty awful). Then someone else came out, after we all had been waiting for awhile, then brought one of are family members a ten dollars off appetizers (or whatever it was). for the next time, pretty ridiculous when something should have been taken off the bill, and another one of our family members hadn't even paid yet. Pretty horrible visit, really don't think we...
Read morePretty good food. Definitely a unique experience and a good way to be exposed to bison burgers and bison in general. The first time I went here was on my birthday a couple years ago. I had the bison bacon cheeseburger and it was really delicious. Definitely have the burgers medium well for the best flavor and texture. The meat is very lean so well done will change the taste and texture.
This time I went with more people and we all got different things we hadn't had before. I got a table early and a waiter came over to take my drink order and offered to take an order for an appetizer while I waited. He was very polite and made sure my drink or my son's was ever empty. Very attentive waiter and friendly. He offered the items of the day and some of us tried them. The devour Indy event was still active so that was an option as well. Absolutely an idea to consider and it is a great way to try the food at a good cost.
The food was good and came out very quickly. When we ordered dessert we also ordered a to go order and they came out at the same time. Very fast service.
Pleasant atmosphere and nice clean restaurant.
I will go back again and try some new menu items. Good for families and groups to enjoy a meal.
Update August 2, 2023
Ordered a takeout order. Arrived and waited to get some sides. Kept waiting. A server asked if I had everything and I said I needed to sides of ranch. She walked off and never returned. After waiting a while and having other employees just stare at me and do nothing. I left. Such a disappointing. With only two tables with people why is...
