We went to New Groove recently because my husband and daughter surprised me with tickets to a sushi workshop. The workshop was great and I highly recommend it! The atmosphere at New Groove is cozy and we appreciate how hard the owners work at making this a fun local place with great food and lots of activities. My only disappointment was the attitude of the bar tender the night we were there. My daughter is 21 years old, and not familiar with craft beer, so she ordered a domestic beer thinking they might offer it in addition to their own. This might be the first ‘brewery’ she has ever been to. I was standing behind my daughter at the bar when she ordered and the bar tender had a surly attitude and made her feel stupid. Those of us who are not big beer drinkers would like to support a local business, and even learn more about craft beer, but I was disappointed by the rude customer service that night. Perhaps a handout about the nuances of the different beer offerings would be a nice touch, and help customers decide what they want to try. Overall, we know the owners work hard and genuinely care about making this a place that offers something for everyone, so we won’t let one isolated incident keep us from...
Read moreI have never in my life written a review of a restaurant/bar/brewery, but this felt like an obligation. I visited New Groove for the first time today, and unfortunately I will not be returning.
The two bartenders had their masks “on” about 15% of the time that I was there. The bar was full of people sitting/standing, no regard for spacing whatsoever. This is especially problematic because all drinks/food have to be ordered at the bar, so ultimately there is no way to avoid all of those people if you actually want to eat or drink something. One employee in particular never had a mask on, and I watched her deliver food, pet a dog, then eat something brought in from someone all without washing her hands. She was walking in and out of the back with no mask on, ever. Multiple people came inside and got up/walked around without masks on.
I was incredibly disappointed, as well as pretty grossed out, by the complete disregard for the rules that are supposed to be in...
Read moreTruly a gem if you like very well done beers. Totally caught off guard here. So many breweries these days, which is great, but so many mediocre offerings and oblivious unrefined palates drinking what they think is a great beer, that just isn't. Very few breweries that aren't well known pull off more than one or two really truly well-done styles. Wish we lived closer. The residents in the area are so lucky to have a brewery that does so many styles exceptionally well. We saw some prior events with food parings that make me think they have a qualified cicerone on staff. We are going to try and coordinate a visit to a future event. If these guys were in a larger metro area, they would blow up. Can't wait to come back when we have the opportunity to try more products. We had the dry hopped saison, BA rum stout, limeade fruited sour, marzen, and milkshake ipa. All...
