I was hesitant to go here after all the reviews of poor service but I haven’t ever had Popeye’s before and wanted to give it a try at least. First impression, awful customer service. I pulled up to the drive thru because it was late and I had my 5 year old in the car who was getting sleepy. I was greeted at the drive thru by someone saying “Can you come in?” No explaination (card machine down?) given and not even given with a “Hello, welcome to Popeye’s” or anything. I debated going somewhere else just based on that but thought I’d give them a chance still.
We went in and stood in line to place our order. There were 3 employees in the back. One at the front register, one that was putting chicken in boxes and one by the drive thru sweeping, none were in a hurry. When it was my turn I asked them why the drive thru wasn’t working and the girl told me “I don’t know, she’s just telling everyone to come inside. I work up here so I don’t know.” I placed my order for a family meal with a mix of mild and spicy. She asked me if I wanted tenders or regular chicken, I told her regular chicken. Then not even 20 seconds later she tells me “we don’t have mild tenders” to which I politely remind her I didn’t order tenders, I ordered regular chicken. She mumbles something about talking to her coworker not me. I also ordered a large drink and when our transaction was complete I waited for my cup as she proceeded to move on to the next customer. I got my cup and there was no tea left. I asked the employee filling up the lids and straws about tea and she walked over to the counter and asked the lady bagging chicken to get me some tea but she didn’t hear her. She then asked the one sweeping but she stopped sweeping to do something else. Then the one boxing chicken came over and filled my cup with tea. I asked for sweet tea but I got unsweetened tea. As our food was ready I asked about sweet tea since what I had received was unsweetened. She was nice and refilled it. It was still unsweetened tea. Do they not have sweet tea? I mean this stuff wasn’t “unsweetened by southern tastes” it had no sugar in it at all. It wasn’t awful but I was wanting sweet tea at the time and was disappointed in the twice unsweetened tea I received.
The chicken was good, about like KFC, nothing spectacular. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was very good, it had flavor and wasn’t just brown bland sauce. The onion rings had a good flavor too and the biscuits were alright. The food was decent but I’m not going to drive across town to go here, the customer service isn’t good and the food doesn’t make up for the lack of...
Read moreAfter reading prior reviews, we were unsure what to expect - in relation to store cleanliness, staff friendliness and food quality. We are originally from another state and the Popeye's we had there was, seriously, fantastic. As such, we decided to take a leap of faith and give this location a try; despite poor comments from others. Boy are we glad we gave this location a try! We called ahead - as we wanted to create our own order, not typically available - and Terry (manager or owner, not sure which) and her staff were very friendly and willing to accommodate our special request. The restaurant (both inside and out) appeared clean (we can't comment about the bathroom, as we didn't go) and the food was exactly what we came to expect from our other quality Popeye's store. We're not sure if a lot of changes / improvements have been made recently; however, our experience was top notch and we will return and would recommend this store to others who love fantastic, perfectly fried chicken, sides and moist biscuits. We'll be back again. Thank you, Terry, and thank you Popeye's! We're glad we found you!
Update 6/8/17: We went for our second visit and - although, initially, customer service personnel weren't super friendly - they ended up going above and beyond for us, again. We went through the drive-thru and ordered an 8 piece box with two breasts and six wings. We were told they were out of wings and - after some pushing by us - they said we could wait and they could make us some wings fresh. We didn't mind waiting and were pleasantly surprised by the customer service going forward. We didn't expect it, but we were offered drinks while we waited and were given an extra side and a few biscuits, too. As I said, it was our decision to wait, so we weren't expecting anything, but it made the trip worth it; not to mention the food was perfect and delicious! Once again, we were pleased with our (overall) experience and would continue to recommend this...
Read moreThis is my 4th time coming to this establisment and I have tried to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt due to them only been open a few months. I have been to many Popeye locations in different states and the food at this place is mediocre. Again I have chalked it up to it only been open a fewontgs and they need more time to get the hang of things. Tonight is the night that has really blew my fuse. As any time the service has been just a mediocre as the food. The workers don't care about their customers and are more intrigued with their own entertainment and cell phones than with servicing their customers even in drive thru. I order myself and daughter a Wicked Chicken box with fries with both. When I get to the window to pay the worker tells me they are out of fries and onion rings because they are cleaning the fryer. So I chosed red beans and rice. My daughter didn't want that so I asked could I have corn on the cob for her side. As they are preparing my meal other workers are having conversations and checking their cell phones. The drive thru worker decides to tell me after she has prepared my order that they are out of corn and she decided to give me red beans and rice instead. I accepted that and drove home. I got the food out of the bag and noticed that the boxes were not hot or warm. I open the boxes to feel the food and it is cold as if it has been sitting out for a while. I had to warm our food in the microwave. Clearly that is not a way to serve your customers. I tried calling the restaurant number on the receipt to not get an answer. This is my 4th and last time patronizing this particular Popeyes. When I come to this location I feel like I have been to Church's Chicken. Train your employees and teach them about how to give great customer service. I will warn others about my...
