The food was OK. I got a steak chimichanga, it was good. The Chile relleno, is not a real chili relleno in my opinion. There is a tiny sliver of a chili, with meat and cheese on top of it on a plate. It also tasted like it was old. The taco salad, beans and rice, and the salsa was good. My husband got the dinner, combo, special, and that was also very bland. The tostada doesn’t have any meat on it. The service was OK. Unfortunately, the guy was really overwhelmed because he had multiple tables by himself. We ordered an appetizer and when we asked about it, he said he was going to bring it out with our meal. We also had to ask three times for lemon for the water. I think it was the owner that checked us out in the front, he was super nice and helpful.

We have been coming to Don Rey for years. We adore Maria (& her family). Every time we walk in the door, we are greeted like family. It’s a great family environment and I appreciate so much that every time we are there, I never have to be concerned about other patrons using ugly language or being inappropriate. Don Rey is one of those local places where you know your kids can go have lunch or dinner and be watched out for (and know that Maria will watch out for them like a Mama or an Aunt). Obviously the food is great (try the guapo special!!) but local, family places are too few and far between and I am so glad the Matas have such a great place in Boiling Springs.

My husband and I decided to try this based on his co-workers recommendation and it did not disappoint! I had the pollo fundido and he had the lunch Don Rey fajitas and both were literally perfect. Fast service, fresh food and beautiful restaurant! I’m so excited to have a new place to eat Mexican in Boiling Springs (I’ve been driving to Powdersville for good Mexican food!) Oh!! And don’t let me forget the pico de gallo!! It was so fresh and delicious! I’d come here just for that! The tortillas were cooked perfectly.. I could go on and on but suffice it to say: 10/10!!!! (Forgive the pic, we were too excited to remember to take one before we dug in!)

I really hate to have to leave this review but after the service that I received today, I was left with no choice. My son and I came in for lunch around 1 o’clock today and our waitress was the most unfriendliest waitress we have ever had here (and we come very often but mostly at dinner time). I don’t know if she was just having a bad day or what but regardless it shouldn’t have been taken out at work. We were not greeted when we walked in, we walked in and told her there were two of us, she grabbed the menus and the silverware, walked us to the table, slung it down on the table, then went and got our chips and salsa and slung that down as well And then asked us What did we want to drink. We told her we both wanted water so she went and got our drinks and then came back and just stood there with her pen and pad like she was just waiting on us to give her our order, never asked what would you like to eat or if we were ready to order she just stood there with her pen and pad staring at us. So I asked her could she give us just a couple of minutes because we hadn’t decided yet, she just walked off and then went and sat down to roll silverware and didn’t decide to come back to our table till about 10 minutes later to take our order. The food was amazing as always, so shout out to the kitchen for that. My son or myself never got not one refill of water and both of our cups were bone dry when we got up to leave, never brought us any napkins . She absolutely did nothing for us other than take our order rudely and bring us our food. She’s lucky she got the tip that I left. I genuinely didn’t wanna leave anything because you shouldn’t get tipped for bad service. Maybe next time put a smile on your face and learn to be friendly with your customers . I most likely will not be returning To...

We have been eating at this restaurant for 16 years, they have recently changed names and we thought that was all that changed but we were terribly wrong,we went in tonight and my daughter ordered chicken nachos like she always does, when it came out it was on a much smaller and the portion was not just smaller, but a lot smaller!when we got done and was at register to pay the bill,we asked Maria, who is one of the owners I might add, also the same lady that we e have watched her kids grow up as we have supported her tremendously eating here, but asked her are the chicken nachos coming on smaller plates?she says yes.so then we asked smaller plates smaller portions?she says yes,I asked why and she couldn’t give any explanation whatsoever,so I told her that I’m sorry but I won’t be able to come back and support anybody that changes portions afte 16 years, tells no one and then has an attitude when you try to say something about it,her reply to me was okay bye,,Maria, when you own a restaurant in a small town and mainly regulars come In to support you,you might want to reconsider how you treat your regulars because of what happened tonight, you lost so far 12 regular customers that have faithfully ate there, but it won’t end there, because of your reply I will go out of my way to let the people of boiling springs know how things have changed Andy you will not get your moneys worth!not to mention we waited over 45 min before we got seated!good luck on your business and...

NO, if u dont want the cheese on it then next time u dont order it. I said excuse me I didt say I didt want cheese on the thing I was asking y did the price go up. at this moment I had already gave him my money, he leads over the counter to repeat what he had already said but in a dick form and with a raised voice. I cut him off abd said YOU DONT RAISE UR VOICE AT ME GO AHEAD AN GIVE ME MY CHANGE I WONT BE BACK. HE THEN throws my money that I gave him in the first place on the counter and said I give u no food take ur money. I asked for the manager which is his wife and he said no this was his restaurant. I said ok went to the middle of DOUSH BAGS restaurant and told the waiter that waited on me that they just list a customer that came in here more they 3 times a week bc of that doush bag and pointed right at him. this is a really sad thing that happend, bc I really love this place but I will not have a person yell at me and throw my money in the conter when the customers are the ONLY REASON U HAVE...
