Today was our first time to this restaurant and was looking forward to it. Upon arrival we were seated quickly and menus given. They have a lunch menu for all you can eat which allows you to try everything in smaller portions. However it was not properly explained to us as we ordered one of each category. Found out later it was not correct. In the mean time all the food came out at once and we were seated at a small table. When I asked the waitress to slow it down it didn't and so our table became overwhelmed with dishes. I asked two more times which also fell on a deaf ear. Although the food was very good it came out too fast and as a result we didn't get to enjoy it so we boxed a lot of it up so we could take it home and try it later. Also, our waitress forgot to bring two items which we later asked her to bring and we boxed it up as now we were getting ready to leave. The manager came over and told us that we can't box it up like that you are suppose to order 3 or 4 things at a time and then if you want something else you can order again and this is what they referred to a all you can eat which is literal if you can't finish it they will want to charge you. Since this was our first time and we went by what the waitress told us which was we could order one thing from every category. So we did. We did discuss that it was a lot of food but it gave us an overview of their menu and we liked that. The manager explained that isn't how it worked and that they expect you to order three or four things at a time till you are full. The Price is 18.99 not including drinks(we drank water) so I think you can get your value. The food was really good and we will go back for the food but are now better equipped to order and probably will go a la carte. The manager understood that we were not given the proper instructions and frankly our waitress became rude and even over charged us when she gave us the wrong amount on the ticket my husband didn't pay much attention but I did and noticed we paid 28 dollars more than we should have. The waitress again frazzeled stated she messed up and could we take the cash back we said ok but then it got crazy because she couldn't figure out the proper amount we removed the tip we were leaving and left. Total lack of professionalism. I will make sure we don't have her again but think we will do dinner there over the weekend. I will say this they are pretty new on the block, so there is a bit of settling in but they need to do a much better job at training staff. I have been a restaurateur for 30 yrs now retired, that being said I have never experience such chaos. Mgr said he realized that this was miscommunication and that it wasn't our fault but he wanted to explain the process and we appreciated his conveyance. I think with time they might be better in the service area but until then perhaps they need to write instructions with their all they can eat menu. You cannot order something from every category all at once it has to be is shifts 3-4 choices at a time. Just so you know for the future. It may be better service in the future knowing that this was the proper...
Read moreLet me start by saying i do not normally leave reviews good or bad. Just dont think its worth the time most of the time. But this is worth mentioning.
This was the second time my wife and I dined here. The first time was several months ago and was pretty good so we decided we'd try it again for our anniversary yesterday, 10/9. This time it was aweful. From our waiter, "Decky", who didn't seem to care at all about us and basically acted as if he hated the world, to the bland tasting sushi and worst of all, the wait to get orders once they were placed, it was the worst experience at a restaurant we have had in a very long time.
We love sushi. We have tried many establishments across NC and SC to find good ones. This one is not a good one.
Tips for the owners:
Learn how to make a spicy tuna roll that is actually spicy - at least a little bit. What I was served tasted like a roll I could buy at Publix. It was 80% crunchy tempura flakes and just enough tuna to make it look red with absolutely no heat in it at all. Bland. If you can't make this sushi staple there is a problem with you chefs.
Fire the server named Decky. He does not care about your establishment or your customers. It took us asking three times for extra napkins and 40 min later he brought some just as our last rolls were being brought. Customers do not like to have dirty hands all dinner long. He also did not refill our drinks (ie water and diet coke) until asked twice and a half hour had past.
Also, Do not make your customers wait an HOUR for two mediocur sushi rolls without explaination from your wait staff of some sort. This was beyond ridiculous. If you customer has to ask where their food is you've blown it.
Lastly, you need less tables as you don't have the space to cram in the people you do. We couldn't even walk down the isle between the tables without bumping the elbows of other patrons sitting at tables. You had placed a baby high chair in the middle of the isle with a baby in it that also made it so tight we had to turn sideways to get between it and the table across the isle. Sometimes cramming in too many people at once is too big of a job to handle and you suffer because of it. What if there had been an emergency and the building had to be evacuated quickly. That baby would have been trampled.
You guys have some serious managerial issues to fix before we will come...
Read moreIn response to the owner, no, you don’t let patrons choose. You tell us in your pamphlet on the table no sharing but then force a group of people to order off menus they don’t want and that the pamphlet is irrelevant. Again, half wanted entrees, the other didn’t. You made the experience non enjoyable for those with children. Foods fine, experience is terrible. I talked to multiple servers…. They complain about the amount of walkouts because of this.
First, the good. The restaurant was clean, Server was nice despite my dissatisfaction with the “rules”, the food was excellent and service fast.
Now the bad…. If it was my choice, I would have left…. Because of the “rules” it’s not a kid friendly restaurant. If you want to enjoy sushi but your 13 or 14 year old only likes basic Chinese or hibachi, this place isn’t for you.
After a softball tournament, my family and another decided to skip Fuji and try this place. The adults wanted the all you can eat while the kids wanted entree’s. The kids will never eat anything near 30 dollars worth of food and typically take home leftovers. Even at separate tables they refused.
It was sad, they made a man and his wife sit separately because one wanted the all you can eat while the other wanted an entree. I’m curious, what stopped them from still sharing? Their tables were right beside each other.
Going out to dinner should be an enjoyable experience and not laced with a ton of rules.
On top of forcing kids to eat from the all you can eat, they added Additional rules to some of the dishes “50 cent charge after so many orders” of specific sushi as well as “only one per guest”. It’s either all “all you can eat” as stated in the “rules” or it’s not.
I understand that people take advantage of the situation. Most people do not.
Instead of forcing everyone at the table to order one or the other, make every other person order an entree if one person is ordering the “all you can eat”. If the table is caught sharing, up charge the entree’s to the 30 dollars. It’s not overly complicated. But your unreasonableness is going to kill your restaurant. The amount of people that walk out because of this, I’ve heard from your servers is...
