Los Portales Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Inver Grove Heights

Welcome to Inver Grove Heights! This small city is home to several authentic Mexican restaurants, so trying this place out was on my MUST-Do list... That being said, we went, we ate and... We LOVE this place! They don't have a lot of customer traffic yet, so I have to help them out with a raving review! Most stores close down here because they fail to get a solid following of new and return customers. We always try and support our local business whenever possible. Always helps if the food and service is good. We wound up ordering tacos, rice and beans. While we waited, they brought us complimentary chips and salsa, yum! Our meal arrived very quickly to the table. The steak tacos were plump with meat that was well seasoned and cooked to perfection (definitely a higher quality meat than others use), there wasn't on single piece of meat that was tough or over cooked! Simply amazing! Topped with onion and cilantro and a squeeze of lime and we were in Heaven! The rice and refried beans were also perfectly cooked, and each had a pleasant taste on their own, though I normally eat them together on each bite. It is a very clean establishment with very attentive staff. We are already planning our next dinner date there! Happy Hour...

Ordered a burrito asked to not have beans , the server didn’t know what was in it at all, she had to ask customers for help on what I was trying to say , asked for cilantro in it but was put on the side as it’s a wrapped dry burrio, for that 15 mins lateeu Other order asked for Jalepenos on there it came on the side , 15 or more mins after food being served Asked for salsa for my chips that came with the burrito because the green sauce was unbearably hot so I asked to exchange it and they were going to charge me for a few tablespoons, next order came I don’t know what it was at all, we didn’t get checked on at all after the cook brought the food out Ordered a Long Island it was sooo sweet it taste like pure syrup , just awful Left it didn’t drink it , so got the largest margarita wanted a plain I don’t know what came it was blue Again nobody checked on us after the food came , kept asking for my bill but the servers were too busy cleaning and sweeping , around 8ish tonight 8-12-2024 I won’t be back ever again after a $90 tan of the worst drinks , food and server experience ever Prices are way to High , nobody understands anything you say when ordering food , would be nice for a translator or have more cooks...

Absolute awful place to eat. I wanted to like it, but there is just no saving it. The music is way too loud, they didn't even have Sprite. I ordered the $28 Steak and Shrimp for dinner, which the only redeeming quality about the entire dish is the shrimp, the shrimp was amazing, but the steak I would equate to chewing on a tire. My wife ordered some soft taco dish that was over $22 alone. Just about all the food was so bland, just like other reviews out here, they're not wrong. They messed up both of our orders after having "lost" the order in the kitchen. They turned on the laser light show on the stage which then kept blasting me in the eyes. Good thing I don't have epilepsy. Because of the screw up with the order, they comped us a desert which was sub par at best. All of this would've easily been over $50....for 2 people with no alcoholic drinks either. Every restaurant that goes into this location seems to be cursed, first Old World, then some other Mexican restaurant that we never tried, and now this place. I think the curse will continue with this...
