i know everyone says this, and i never thought i would have to come to this, but im going to say it. if i could, i would give this place 0 stars. my family decided on chinese for my mom's birthday dinner so we ordered on their website to pick up. we provided very simple and clear "special instructions" (no vegetables in 1 dish. extra pork in another. and no pork in the third. we got 4 meals total. ill get to mine later). when we got to the restaurant (can i even call it that?), the woman at the counter was very quiet and anti-social. we gave a $5 anyway bc its a small place and we had a pretty big order. there was no pork in any of the pork fried rice. and the worst part is that they failed to provide my mom's sweet and sour sauce for her sweet and sour chicken. seriously? she had to eat her chicken plain and dry... which leads me to my next complaint. their sauce is usually pretty bland and the meat is relatively dry (we settle for this place because it is the closest to where we live) but today it was just so awful that none of us will ever go back again. this was the last straw. on top of the mistakes in my family members' orders, my bourbon chicken was pink and tasted like water. i couldn't finish it. i had to pick off of my boyfriend's orange chicken, which was also plain and dry. the only good part was my fool-proof white rice. so, we notice all the mistakes in our meals and my mom decides to call the place to try to get some online store credit-- my dad was willing to drive back but my mom said she didnt want to deal with it since it was already late. the woman who answered the phone could barely understand what my mom was saying and she was getting increasingly frustrated (noticeable in her disgusting attitude) as my mom tried to explain to her what the problem was, and that we would prefer credit over having to make another half hour trip for just some sauce and pork. she kept insisting we come back. then, the woman has the nerve to say "i have to charge you $2 for extra pork". umm one of our special instructions said "no pork" so what is the problem with putting extra pork on the other meal??? i would rather put that $2 towards the gas i wasted driving back for our food that shouldve been correct the first time. its really not that hard. double check. there's no excuse, especially when business is slow. before my mom was done trying to negotiate a solution with the woman on the phone, she decided to cut my mom off mid sentence and end the conversation by saying "bye-bye!" and hanging up . im really not the type of person to right a "nasty review", but this experience really ticked me off. my mom didnt want to make a big deal about it, but this was just not normal and shouldn't have happened (the amount of things that were incorrect and the anti-social, rude employees/owner). dont say i...
Read moreFirst time trying this local place out, pretty impressed. There are only two good places in Inverness area supposedly, this being one of them. Didn’t disappoint. I would give them an 8/10. I have had better, but also have had very worse.
Got some basic items to try this time. Will have to explore the menu out a bit more next time. Food tasted like good quality takeout, the employees were prompt and polite.
Placed my order online, they called me when I arrived in the parking lot just as the time-estimate for pickup was—so they made the order in great timing, no false guess-timate or waiting around.
Prices were very fair, food was pretty good, I think I just need to try a couple more items for me to really be sold on this place.
The Szechuan beef was the best thing ordered, veggies mixed in were great texture-wise and the sauce was AMAZING. I will have to try the chicken version of it next time.
Only suggestion for the restaurant would be for the chicken fried rice to have the veggies tossed or cooked with the rice/chicken longer so they absorb the flavor. The chicken and rice tasted like boiled chicken, topped with cooked peas/carrots. Still pretty good though.
Consistency of the lo mein was very good. The flavor I couldn’t put my finger on. Maybe a slight peanut-taste? Not bothered, just couldn’t figure it out.
The egg roll and the spring rolls I got were fine. Good textures and flavors as anticipated. Always good choices as apps.
Will come back again, wonderful service. Excited to explore the menu. Thank you First Taste for the...
Read moreBeen wanting to find some good Chinese take out in the area and found this place from Google. At first glance, I wasn't sure they were open. The shopping center only has a couple open stores as it seems the anchor stores have left . Luckily, they were open and friendly enough. There were two of us and we both got the lunch special. One was shrimp and broccoli, the other one was beef and garlic sauce. The shrimp was good, and decent size, 5 total. The beef was soft and had only one or two chewy pieces. Better than most take aways. The main issue was both were kind of dry, with hardly any sauce. The special comes with a can of soda as well, but we had to ask for it and was directed to a cooler with 3 choices. Coke, Sprite, or orange. No diet soda. The rice is the yellow pork fried style, and was fresh. If in the area, maybe would try again and see if it gets any better, but wouldn't make a special trip. You can eat inside if you like, but the seating is limited to a couple tables like you'd expect from similar places and really designed...
