Today , 3/16/21 at approx 12:30 PM, we had out of town guest that wanted to take us out for lunch and requested Mexican food. Our favorite restaurant is Los Magueyes in Inverness on hwy 41. We told our guest this was the best around. Our issue started upon our arrival we waited over 15 min before our drink order was taken. Our drinks arrived on a timely manner but then started the wait. It was approx 20 min and still no one had taken our order I finally got up and found an employee and asked if perhaps we’d been forgotten An additional 15 min before the waiter finally took our order. Now the wait begins again it was another 20-30 min before I stopped a waiter and asked if there was a issue with our order ? An additional 15 min before our orders were finally brought out. The first thing I notice with my meal is that at best it was only at room temp my wife advised me her meal was also only room temp . I had ordered a combo plate , #15, which consisted of a tamale , an enchilada and a burrito well I had two meat burritos and an dry hard tamale . As we had guests and had bragged about how good this restaurant was my wife and I said nothing and attempted to eat our meal. When everyone was finished I excused myself from the table and spoke to a manager. I expressed my disappointment in the meal and the service. All the manager could do was try to justify his staff by saying , I saw you plate and it has an enchilada , burrito and a tamale. I told him in case he hadn’t notice I am Mexican and know what and enchilada is ! Even After paying our bill we had to sit for several minutes , had to ask for it then after putting in our card I finally had to wave a waiter down to take our bill. I am very disappointed in the service and food of what used to be our favorite...
Read moreOK usually we love this place. The food is good and the service is good. However the food was the only good thing. And someone else's waiter. Right now everyone is supposed to be spaced out. Yet they seated a large group of people next to us with 8 empty tables all around us. And our waiter was horrible. He seated us and gave us menus and got our drinks. Then his friends came in, (or maybe unread just the half dressed female that made him want to be friends) he didn't come back for our order until after he got them drinks and came back and got their order and took it to the kitchen and even then we had to ask if he'd like to take our order. Where we still had to wait a minute, because he still wasn't ready. Then he got the 3 yr olds order wrong. OK not a hard fix except everyone at the table had food but the youngest. (I grabbed it before she did because I was half expecting it after he set a hot plate in front of my 6 yr old as well) Finally she got her chicken tenders but they were piping hot and he put them in front of her. Everyone knows not to put piping hot food in front of toddlers. We also had to stop him to ask for a fork twice and never got it. He ran off and never got dressing for our salad. We had to track him down for to go contained and again stop him to pay the bill. Someone else's waiter helped us out a few times that guy was nice. Our waiter needs some training, because his service was unacceptable. However one piss poor employee won't stop us from going back. We'll just make sure we aren't seated...
Read moreThis has been my go-to restaurant in the area for Mexican. But this place really needs to work on the consistency of portion size. I ordered 3 enchiladas this evening with white cheese sauce. It came with less white sauce than normal so I sent it back requesting the normal amount of sauce. My waitress tried to tell me more sauce would cost an additional $1 even though the amount of cheese sauce was LESS than normal and they were already charging an extra $1 because it was cheese sauce. I didn't send the meal back to get a lot of cheese sauce, I just wanted the NORMAL amount of cheese. One of the enchiladas had no cheese sauce on it. I asked for the manager who was a native Spanish speaker whose English was so poor I could barely understand him. I don't think he understood that I was trying to tell him that I normally get more cheese sauce and would they please give me a bit more. He told me the same thing as the waitress, that I would have to pay another $1 for a bit more cheese sauce. I told him no thank you and "I'll just leave." I usually bring 12-18 people on Sundays to this restaurant which I will now no longer bring. Refusing to make my meal right without additional charge will cost this restaurant dearly in the future. The manager needs to learn to deal with the customers and generally be more friendly; he never smiles. Also, I do not recommend the chicken enchiladas because the meat is...
