While looking for breakfast, this restaurant came up on my map search. The pictures menu stated the French toast platter (French toast, eggs, and bacon is sausage) was $6.25. The menu link didn't display breakfast at all, so I called in my order. I explained to the young man who took my order that I didn't eat eggs and requested hash browns instead. He told me ok and that my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I drove the 10 minutes to pay for and pick up my order. While waiting, I looked at the menu onsite to notice the French toast platter was $8.99 and not the $6.25 posted online. Ok, that's fine, prices change and maybe they didn't get a chance to update it online, I thought to myself. My total came up to $10.79, so I asked the attendant why it was so much. He stated he rang everything up separately. I explained to him that I asked for the french toast not everything ala cart. The manager came with my items and told me they don't allow substitutions. I attempted to explain to her that I don't eat eggs and the young man who took my order over the phone didn't tell me substitutions aren't allowed and he should've stated this on the phone when I placed my order. Her response was, "We don't do substitutions, do you want the food or not, hun?" I declined to take the food, not because I couldn't pay the amount, but because her customer service was pushy, rushed, nonchalant, and her comments were condescending. I have no problem with establishments not allowing substitutions, but make that known ahead of time before allowing a customer to drive all the way to your restaurant. Place it on your menu or make sure the attendant states this when a customer makes a substitution request. Also, update your menu to current pricing!!! $6.25 to $10.79 is a bit of an increase. Overall, bad first time experience and...
Read moreMemphis girl here who has been searching since 2004 for real home made SOUTHERN BISCUITS like my family from Mississippi made and finally found them here!!! Simply outstanding! Light & fluffy and even dusted with flour from being rolled out and cut by hand as they should be. Even the milk gravy was good and seasoned well. A+. Now, on to our meal as this was our first time coming here even though we live in South Irving! Don't let the appearance of this place scare you off like it did us! Husband had Breakfast which is served all day! They are only open for Breakfast & Lunch. He ordered 2 Eggs Sunny Side Up with Bacon and Refried Beans w/Corn Tortillas. He is Hispanic so he knows a thing or two about refried beans and said they were excellent. He got toast for the dippy eggs and also chips and the most delicious home made red salsa which was served warm. I ordered the combo Fried Catfish & Shrimp with their home made from scratch Onion Rings with potato salad. The cornmeal coating on the fish and shrimp was Southern Style just as it should have been and thankfully, not too salty! On Saturdays I understand its all you can eat catfish too so we will be back for that for sure. This place has not had a redo since forever and it shows but with food that is easily a 10/10 we could care less. It's connected to a Budget Inn I think it is and we don't care about that either. The bathrooms need some help however. And my only complaint was they served margarine or "spread" as they called it instead of real butter which is actually toxic seed oil spread. Our server was very nice as well and Bi-Lingual if...
Read moreI know that it's not a fancy place, simply decorated, convience store with a bullet proof window attached, sketchy motel next door, but the food and service is outstanding. We were attending a Reunion in Las Colinas and our friends recommend this establishment, there was 15 of us and other places couldn't handle us. They were very accommodating, pushing tables together, taking our orders, serving us quickly, and expertly. The meals were so large that they come in two plates. We tried the pork chops, chicken fried steak, breakfast ham, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and the potatoes come either hash brown or country home style. All of it was excellent and maybe one of the best breakfast places we are found in a long time. We wish it was closer to Mesquite. Everything was fresh, hot, delicious, and we have no complaints. As far as prices, it isn't the cheapest place but it was a bargain for what all they serve you. We like it so much we came back second day. I had the pork chops the first day and you get two of them and they're so large I took one to the room with me. The second day I had the chicken fried steak and it was huge. A couple people in our party had the breakfast ham and it was maybe an inch thick. We also got some of their homemade salsa on the side and it is excellent. Who knows we might drive all the way from mesquite just to go eat there again. Update: every year we have our reunion at the Texan courts about 3 Mi away in Las Colinas and we wrap up the weekend at Country Cafe. It has become a tradition and we always get good food and...
