Griff’s Hamburgers is an Irving institution. My parents were coming here back in their school days, and it still holds up as one of the best old-school greasy burger joints around.
The building is newer and kept really clean, but thankfully the original 1950s-style sign still stands tall—an Irving classic and a reminder of its roots. This isn’t fancy cuisine; it’s good, greasy, satisfying food done right.
🍔 The Burgers: Whether you grab a single or double, you’ll leave happy. But if you’re feeling bold, go triple or even quadruple—it’s going to be a monster. Juicy, greasy, exactly what a fast-food burger should be.
🍟 Sides: Fries are solid, onion rings have a thick, flavorful batter (pretty sure they make them fresh, though I won’t swear to it). Both hit the spot.
🥪 Other Classics: The chicken fried steak sandwich is a gem. Sure, it’s a frozen patty, but it’s rare to even find this on a fast-food menu anymore. There’s something nostalgic and comforting about it. The chicken sandwich is legit, and the hot link sandwich has great flavor if you want to try something different.
🥧 Dessert: Don’t skip the fried apple pie—it’s that old-school style McDonald’s used to have before they went “healthy” with baked pies. Crispy, hot, and just the right amount of sweet.
🥤 Drinks: Only downside—if you want a diet drink, they only carry Diet Coke. Griff’s, please add Coke Zero or Diet Dr Pepper! That would make a great place even better.
And of course, you can’t go wrong with a milkshake to top it all off.
Bottom line: If you’re craving greasy comfort food, nothing beats a Griff’s burger. It’s fast food in its purest, most nostalgic form, and an Irving landmark that’s still...
Read moreOk, I might get made fun of for saying this but here it goes. Griffs is my favorite burger place ever. I know its fast food, I've been to plenty of exotic and expensive burger places, but this is still #1. The fries are decent to good. So are the other sides. My go to is the monster triple with bacon and jalapeños. That part about being able to add jalapeños pushes them over the top. The meat is always juicy and tender. The cheese is perfect - matches the amount of meat you get. I'm starting to crave it right now just typing this out. I would take this over a place like In-n-out without a second thought. It's probably worth adding - I live in Colorado. There used to be 2 locations in Colorado since I was young. They were super popular - at least the one in Arvada. Always a line at the drive through and people filling up tables. Many a family get-together had food from Griffs, unanimous vote. I hope the owners read this...we NEED Griffs back in CO. So, anytime I get near a Griffs in the south I figure outna way to go eat their amazing burgers. Specifically for this location I will call out - the service was very good inside. My friend and I dined in. We showed up late and spent a bunch of time talking. Staff didn't rush us off. They were very accommodating and when we went to bus our own table they intervened and sent my friend with a to go refill.
Please bring Griffs back to CO! We miss you!
Update...in Dallas area for work. First stop after the airport was here. Still love this place. Burgers are still amazing. The onion rings I purchased were better...
Read moreThis burger joint was a great choice made for a late lunch. I heard the name as we were searching for a place to eat. Griff's Hamburgers sounded different, but hey, let's try it! I'm very happy we did. The location appeared small with plenty of parking and a drive thru. The mascot appeared to be something from a drive-in movie, which made me curious. 1st, we saw the advised $1 ice-cream fudge bars. Then the front staff was ready to take our order. A few flat screens and plenty of seating. Placed our order, and the mic was used to repeat it to the back staff axtrue classic! The drinks were made (free refills) by the front employees, another huge plus! Then the food came out. Hot, fresh, and made to order. Paper wrapping, so you knew it was going to be a hit! Fresh straight fries to boot. Ketchup either in the bottle or packets with salt and pepper in similar packets. Said our prayers and enjoyed our meal. The burgers were hot and fresh! The price was way below the average cost, which made me excited! The guests there were kind and friendly it was just a good environment to be in. We were at the older part of Irving just a few miles from Grand Prairie, which were my old stomping grounds!! Griff's Hamburger is definitely a step in the right direction and a true competitor among other burger joints! Hey Griff, North Texas is exactly what we needed!! Thank You!! My wife explored the restrooms and said they were well...
