I have not eaten at Steak ’n Shake in Irving for several years, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect coming back. I decided to give it another try, and I am so glad I did. I ordered takeout through the app for my family, and the whole experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. The ordering process through the app was smooth, quick, and easy — everything worked exactly as it should, and I appreciated how clear and accurate the menu and options were. By the time I arrived, my order was ready exactly when promised, the staff was friendly, and the pickup process was fast and efficient.
When I got everything home and opened the bags, I could immediately tell the food was fresh and made right. The fries were perfectly cooked — hot, crispy, golden, and seasoned just right. They were the kind of fries you actually get excited about eating and sharing. The burgers were outstanding — juicy, flavorful, well-prepared, and exactly the way a Steak ’n Shake burger is supposed to be. Every bite was delicious, and it reminded me of why I used to enjoy coming here years ago. And of course, the shakes were exactly what you want them to be: thick, creamy, rich, and packed with flavor. Each shake was made right and tasted amazing, and the family loved them.
Everything about this visit left me completely satisfied. The food was excellent, the service was fast, the order was handled correctly, and the quality was consistent across the board. It really felt like the restaurant cared about getting it right, and they delivered in every single category. My family was happy, I was happy, and I left with the impression that Steak ’n Shake in Irving is absolutely worth coming back to.
This was one of those rare times where every single part of the experience lived up to expectations and even went beyond them. From the ease of ordering in the app, to the speed and friendliness of the service, to the taste and quality of the food, everything was spot on. I can honestly say this was a 5-star experience all the way around, and I highly recommend this location to anyone in the area. I look forward to...

They’ve raised the prices again so the frisco melt combo is now $8.29 plus tax ($8.97). Checked the burger and the meat is MUCH thinner than I remember. Very sparse on the sauce too. I am absolutely confused as to what makes them think this is worth the increase. It’s at least $3 more than most of their combos. I definitely made a mistake in giving them another chance.
Original review from 2 years ago: I can without hesitation say that I'm done with this location. I've been going to this particular Steak 'n Shake 1-2 times a month for the past 10 years now and literally the only meal I have ever ordered was the frisco melt combo from the drive through. I went inside a couple of times but stuck to the drive through most of the time because the prices were different for some reason. I just got a meal from there and they have over the course of a couple of months raised the prices over $1 from what they were before the remodel. The Frisco Melt combo was $7.03 after tax. After the remodel it was $7.57 (what I paid in August, September, and October) and now the one I just got was $8.11 ($7.49 on the menu). It also looks like they are putting in small fries with the combo instead of medium like they used to. Icing on the cake, I asked for a side of the frisco sauce and was told they charge $0.39 for "dipping sides". I get a side of that with every sandwich and have never been charged for it until this visit. I'm thinking they have a new franchise owner running this location and from other reviews I've read about the service inside the restaurant they aren't doing good in that arena either. They are now giving less and charging more. Trying to nickle and dime your customers to pay for renovations is not...
Read moreCHECK YOUR ORDER!!! First time patron. Friend wanted to try it. I looked at all of the negative reviews and was skeptical. Placed and paid for our order online so that we would have record of what we ordered (apparently there is an issue with order accuracy based on other reviews) Kept the order simple: two bacon doubles same toppings two fries a sweet tea and a large coke. Sat down at a table and was tossed a bag. Opened up the bag to what looked like the right order but found that my burger was missing the bacon. then the drinks came out. Small coke. Told the waitress that the bacon was missing and showed her my order list. She gave us a deer/headlights look and told the manager. Manager came over "what seems to be the problem" I showed him the burger and the order list and he then asked me if it was okay if I brought out the bacon. When he returned I asked about the coke size and then mentioned to him that his store has very bad reviews and this mess just reinforces it. He came back with the correct size drink offered me dessert on the house and I told him no I would rather get the problem with the restaurant corrected so that I could return with less headache. He gave me a song and dance about employee turn around etc. My response was "fix it and work for better reviews."
In the end the burger tasted awesome. And the atmosphere was great. but it appears the place needs some good management training and possibly a policy change regarding order correction. IMO the shorting of the orders is a way to save money. Having the waitress not making a decision on how a failed order is rectified is poor employee enablement. she should have easily been able to correct this without a "what do I...
