Mariscos Uruapan — Restaurant in Irwindale

Hayiiii caramba! Food was hot and spicy, but so good could not stop eating it!

I originally ordered the fish fajitas, but I changed my mind when my date ordered the same thing. Instead, I tried the very interesting dish the the neighbors at the next table had, the molkahete (sp?) with Aguas Chiles.

Haii chihuahua, talk about rich variety of flavor. The marinated cucumbers were very fresh. The mixed seafood was very tasty. If only I had known it was going to be THAT spicy!

Our waitress could not come back to the table fast enough with cool drinks to cool me down. But it was so good I dared the wrath of the chili gods, and I knew I wouldpay a heavy price later. But it was worth it!

UPDATE as of 06/08/2012 - Just came back from there to celebrate the end of classes. BIG MISTAKE. Live band was too loud, they did not bring half of the order that I requested and the strawberry margarita tasted rotten. I'm throwing up all the good food I ate because the music and the bad alcohol made...

My friend Paul and I were in this neighborhood on Sunday, and intended to go to the Thai place located in the same unassuming strip center, but it was closed. As a lark we decided to go into Mariscos Uraupan, not expecting anything special. However we were pleasantly surprised to find the place nicely decorated, clean, and very busy on a Sunday afternoon. The food was simply fantastic, one of the best meals I've had in ages, and I generally eat pretty well. They have a hugle selection of seafood dishes including lobster, crab, octopus, shrimp, oysters and many fish choices. I had the bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp and they were perfectly cooked, with the super fresh shrimp not overcooked at all, yet the seemingly fat-free bacon perfectly crisp yet juicy. My friend had an octopus dish with steak, cactus and an amazing red sauce, cheese and guacamole that was amazing. Check this place out,...

If I could give this restaurant a minus 1 star I would. Food is ok. But service is lousy. I have been here several times, once the menu was sticky with ketchup, but I excused them because they were busy. But today was the worst We walked in at 3:45 we're sited promptly by the hostess, waited for 45 minutes and no server came to take our order. I walked to the bar and order 2 beers, again waited and waited, a waiters walk two times to take the order for a couple sited next to us, but did not even look at us, the hostess walked to sit a party next to us, and my husband told her that none had been to take our order yet. She said she would talk to some one, again waited nor 10 minutes more. None came to help us, so we walked to the bar paid 14.25 for two beers and walked out. And none cared. I promote and and support Latin business,. But I will not recommend this...
