Café Paname — Restaurant in Isle of Palms

What happened to this place?! We have been here no less than 50 times over the last 7+ years. It's just not the same as it used to be. The lattes and other beverages used to be THE BEST in town! Now they taste like watered-down milk. We had to politely ask to have them remade, and they were still undrinkable. We called ahead on our food order because we know there is often a very long wait. When we arrived 20 minutes later and they had not even begun to make our order. This used to be our favorite place on IOP. Hopefully, it was just an off day, but it just seemed to be different than it was in years past. If you are the current owner, quality control should be a top priority like the previous owners had.

*When I let the girls know that the drinks were not good, I was trying to do it politely because I know how great this place can be. I can’t rlly explain it but coming here was a sort of out of body experience they made me an incredible lavender latte everyone was super friendly my issue was with the paper straws. I was drinking the coffee on the beach and it was a windy day and like once that straw is in your cup it is NOT moving up or down and i know because i tried to move it up and it broke completely off and i couldn’t take the lid off bc sand would get in the cup bc the wind so every time i wanted to take a drink i’d have to stand up take the lid off take a sip put the lid back on and sit back down. so that was kind of annoying. It was absolutely nothing on the business’s fault tho just a suggestion i would make is adding recycled straws or plastic straws as an option. 90% of ocean waste is plastic nets from commercial fishing companies and other waste from fishermen, so you aren’t doing the damage you think you are with the plastic straws anyways and if it does bother you please just opt for recycled or other biodegradable options other than paper. My latte and the breakfast croissant was delicious. However the woman who assisted us had an extremely poor attitude. No polite greeting from the woman at the cash register when we walked in.. she just stared at us the entire time we were making our decisions looking at the menu with a disdainful look on her face. She seemed irritated because we came in 45 minutes before close? I’m assuming that’s the problem or maybe because we aren’t locals? When one of us ordered a sandwich she said “is anyone else ordering sandwiches because he is leaving soon so we need to get the sandwich orders in now” the man in the kitchen was on his phone during the transactions but ended up leaving not making our sandwiches.. the older woman who took our orders made the younger girl (who was very polite and kind) make the sandwiches even though she made all the coffee.
