First we were seated in dining room. Ordered happy hour & was told that's only in the bar so moved to bar table. Ordered apps & happy hour drinks. The oesto chicken salad didn't come with bread or anything so I asked for some. Ordered bruchetta & waitress asked if we wanted chicken or goat cheese on it. We decided on goat cheese due to her recommendation. We ordered meatballs & baked marinara. The baked marinara was awful. Cold & barely any cheese. So when asked how food was I mentioned that it wasn't very good or hot. So she grabbed it and walked away with it. Never said a word. After almost 20 mins we finally get her attention to come to table again. We order next round of drinks & they are supposedly out of the social hour Pinot Grigio!! Tried to order Moscato but can buy it by the glass. Gave her the name of a wine, she said sure and brings back a red wine. I told her no, it's supposed to be a white. She said well, they don't have that in white then whisks it away. Happy hour ends but 1 guest asked for same wine but said she knew it would be higher. Waitress said you can get that wine unless it's social hour!!! We all end up with a procecco that was decent. But in the meantime she blows us off again and we have to wave her down for another glass. She takes off with dishes from the table and 1 guest planned on taking the meatball and remaining chicken salad home. But didn't have a chance to even say anything to Waitress. So she bring wine and again disappears. We are all ready to go and have to flag her down AGAIN! Our tickets were wrong so had to move one app to my ticket. Also charged for the goat cheese she recommended and we assumed was an option. But ok, our bad. Then she charged for the bread that we asked for with the chicken pesto. Which as I pointed out to her made no sense when the baked marinara clearly said it come with the bread and ours didn't. Then when she took our cards another server was standing near her and she'd look our way whisper to server who'd look our way. This went on the entire time she processed our payments. There were 3 of us so we spent a good bit of money too. The food and drinks are mediocre. The service was horrible. I would never go back and do not recommend. Go to Amerigo. I went there my last trip to Jackson and had great food...
Read moreBravo's Scarpetta Wine Dinner on Monday, July 17th was superb. The pairing of the wines to the courses was bar-none. Chef Matt Mabry did an exceptional job, food was exquisite with great flavor and freshness. Jason Whitehead, Regional Sales Manager for Scarpetta, did a subtle and informative presentation of their wines and history. He did not pontificate on their products. He was pretty direct and forward. His and Chuck's knowledge and expertise was apparent Chuck, Bravo's man of the hour, did exceptionally well. He circulated amongst the guests and left his personal touch and passion to everyone. The staff was very courteous and professional, and interacted amongst the guests, instilling a sense of ownership and pleasure as well. The event started within an acceptable few minutes of the 6:30 pm start time. The pairing and tasting lasted approximately 3 hours. Each wine and course pairings definitely complemented each other. The flow and timing of food and wine was seamless to the guests. If it lasted longer it would have been too much, 15-20 minutes less is my preference. But, due to the number of patrons, service and food prep it is totally acceptable. Unlike other restaurants and pairings, Bravos dining area absorbed sound and loud activity. You could socialize and or listen to the presentations with very little noise distraction. In addition, Bravo's took consideration of meeting any food requirements pr restrictions, and accommodated the patron. The flow of wine and food went smoothly on the receiving end. The atmosphere and tone was established upfront. Chucks dynamic personality brought everyone one together and each person felt appreciated and special. The only thing I would recommend is that when circulating with the guests, show off the label and bottle, or display it, during each course. We have been a fan of Bravos cuisine since they opened, and have enjoyed each visit. We are looking forward to...
Read moreSolo diners who like to eat at the bar, be forewarned, but please read. This is a little wordy, but worth it, I promise.
I just finished off what was a lovely start to a meal. I ordered a pizza and a nice bottle of wine, all of it just for me. Chris, my bartender, said he would store my wine bottle behind the bar so "it doesn't get spilled", me being so clumsy and all. I knew that was a B.S. ploy but I didn't say anything.
What storing the bottle meant was that Chris gradually siphoned off a full glass from my bottle, little by little when I wasn't looking so he could share a nice glass of wine with friends for better tips. Smart. But I'm smarter.
I'm no stranger to having my own bottle at a restaurant. It takes me 90 minutes to drink it. This took 60. I initially mentioned the bottle seemed like a short pour. Chris was unimpressed. He sensed my dissatisfaction and tried to distract me with desserts and other nightly specials for when I come back. He could sense I was mad.
I asked for the bill and hesitated signing it. He again tried distracting me, so I mentioned the 90 minute, 60 minute observation. In two seconds flat he had poured me a BIG glass of Malbec as compensation. "This is 100% Malbec. Here you go." Here I go? I like Malbec, but compared to Barbera d'Alba, you can keep your glass. I'm fine. At that moment, I knew I was right. I knew he was a thief. I knew he gave away drinks to friends and others in "The Industry". This time, at my expense. I'm fully capable of pouring my own bottle of wine.
I tipped a full 20+% and decided to come home a write this. I truly hope...
