I’ve ordered delivery from this restaurant multiple times and the food has always been decent. It doesn’t quite stand out to me compared to other Thai restaurants in the area, but a solid place to go on a lunch break! However, I’ve had two in-person experiences that made me a bit uncomfortable.
The first and last time I did a pick up order, an employee followed me outside in his car, rolled down his window, and started trying to flirt with me while I was walking to my vehicle. It just made me a bit uncomfortable but I didn’t let that experience represent the restaurant as a whole.
Most recently, I planned to dine in with my mom, but ended up having an emergency and immediately asked if we could switch the order to to-go instead. The staff member confirmed my name and order, and told us we were all set for the to-go order. When the food was ready, it was still taken to the table. Once corrected, an employee came back holding what I now know was my order (He never announced the order). When I approached the counter, he was holding the bag like he was about to hand it to me but then instead, when he saw me he just set the bag down somewhere off to the side, completely turned away from me, and started talking to a different customer who just came in, calling her order by the name on the ticket, and placing her order directly into her hand. I just had to awkwardly pick up my bag and leave while he ignored me. They didn’t even set the bag in the to go section either it just felt a bit malicious 😭
Honestly it was hurtful and made me uncomfortable because I felt like I was being treated differently, and I’m cautious especially seeing the contrast between my treatment and the white woman that they ignored me to serve instead. I completely understand if they are unable to change the orders to to-go after they are placed--that is not an issue for me at all! But that should’ve been communicated instead of telling me that I was all set for a to-go order, then brushing me off.
This was just my experience, it’s likely that based on who you are you might be treated better or have a better experience but it was disappointing and I definitely don’t feel comfortable going back. The food is okay but not enough to make up for it. There are a lot of genuine restaurants that serve authentic food and have very friendly staff like Thai Time or Siam Thai — so tasty and i’ve had nothing but awesome...
Read moreDate Day Detour: From Siam to Tuk Tuk Boom My husband and I had planned a fun date day together, and we both agreed Thai food was the way to go. Naturally, we decided to head to our favorite spot—Siam Thai Restaurant. To our surprise, when we got there, a sign on the door read: "Sorry for the inconvenience, closed permanently." It was such a shock. Siam had always felt warm and welcoming, with friendly service and consistently delicious food. Determined not to let that ruin our outing, we searched for an alternative and stumbled across a place called Tuk Tuk Boom. Neither of us had ever heard of it, but the name was catchy, and we figured—why not? When we arrived, the cashiers were ready to take our order. Since we were new to the place, we needed a little time to explore the menu. Thankfully, both cashiers were patient, especially the male cashier, who told us to take our time and let us know he’d be available for any questions. After placing our order, we received our food—two entrees and an appetizer. The waiter brought our meals, but accidentally gave us each other's entrees. No big deal, we just swapped. But as I looked at mine, I thought, "This seems really greasy for Thai food." My husband commented, "Isn’t Thai food supposed to be healthier?" That should’ve been our first clue… We ate what we could and then headed to Sam’s Club to do some shopping. That’s when the stomach aches hit—both of us. It wasn’t long after we got home that we realized the name Tuk Tuk Boom might’ve had more meaning than we thought. Let’s just say… next time, we’ll be doing a little more research before...
Read moreI absolutely loved this place. I ate Thai at another location last night and this was definitely better. I'm a huge Thai curry fan. The Chicken Panang was excellent! It was so good in fact, I scraped the bowl and contemplated ordering another. It was some of the best I've ever had.
You walk in and order from the counter and then you find a seat. You get your own drink from the fountain but your food is brought out to your table. The people were super friendly and the wait time was minimal. They have a bar where you can spice up your own food which is a neat concept. It was a great experience.
The only problem I had was finding it. It is tucked away in the back corner of a huge shopping center. You basically have to drive behind Whole Foods to get easy access to it.
So would I go back? Yes, absolutely! And I plan on making a return...
