UPDATE; the GM sent me a gift card, my husband and I decided to go on New Year’s Eve night, so we made a reservation (I HOGHLY recommend doing this, they do stay busy! ) our server this time was Corretta (sorry if I misspelled) anyways, she was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in until we left, the entire experience was soooo much better! The food was amazing and bountiful!! My husband and I both had the 16 Oz ribeye, I had a baked potato and he had the mashed potatoes , appetizers we had the fried oysters and the tomato tower! To DIE for! I really wish I just posted pics! We thoroughly ENJOYED ourselves! I apologize Jed for taking longer to update my review! But THANK YOU for an AMAZING experiences! Will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!
UPDATE: as they stated below, the GM did in fact call me, and like a TRUE general manager he took the blame, in all honestly, it was NOT his fault, he did ASK his ASSISTANT twice if it had been taken care of, Steve/Steven told him it was taken care of, and he had sent the card... NOPE he never sent it! Bc it’s now been 3 weeks and I live 20 minutes from this restaurant! While the GM is very nice, and more than apologetic, and I appreciate that, I will see if there’s a true follow through! I not once ASKED for the card from either one, or anything it return, it was OFFERED by his assistant, so when I am told something, I EXPECT a follow through is all! I will update accordingly, when I see or do not see the follow through!
Don’t bother speaking to management if you have ANY problems! They make “excuses” “oh we were busy, oh she is usually our best server, oh she must’ve been having a bad night, oh your portion sizes were a TODDLER size because a portion of the cost went to the actors for the murder mystery) meanwhile our service was the WORST! And she GAVE HERSELF an almost $22 tip from me and my hubs and tye couple that was seated WITH US BY THEM! Costing us in TOTAL for TWO people $128?!?!?! Seriously! They will toss you from one manager to another (I’ve spoken to at LEAST 4 people) not one knowing what the other is doing, has done, they ALL PROMISE To call you BEFORE they leave for the day, the one (Steve/Steven) PROMISES a “gift card” TWO WEEKS later, still getting the runaround from ALL managers and NO gift card NOR CALL! Their corporate office is NEXT to hear from me! This is UNACCEPTABLE! I’ve been...
Read moreOkay, let's be real, I'm a sucker for Southern food. And Char? Char was my Southern food soulmate last week. I've been a few times now, and each visit just reaffirms my love. This isn't just "good" Southern food, it's inspired Southern food, the kind that makes you close your eyes and savor every bite. This time around, I started with their broccoli. I know, I know, broccoli and chicken breast? But trust me on this. They're not your grandma's mushy, boiled-to-death broccoli. These are tender, bright green, and seasoned with just the right touch of…something. I can't put my finger on it, but it's magical. Seriously, I could make a meal of just broccoli. But, of course, I didn't. Because mac and cheese was calling my name. And Char's mac and cheese? It's the stuff of dreams. Creamy, cheesy, but not so heavy that you feel like you've eaten a brick of cheese. It's the perfect balance. And then, the black-eyed peas. Earthy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. They’re a little bit smoky, a little bit savory, and a whole lot delicious. It's like a warm hug in a bowl. For my main course, I decided to go classic. I'm a sucker for a good burger, and Char's did not disappoint. Perfectly cooked (just like I like it), juicy, and piled high with fresh toppings. The patty was thick and flavorful, clearly high-quality beef. And the fries? Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. It's a simple dish, but Char elevates it to something special. Even though I was stuffed, I couldn't leave without trying dessert. I have a serious weakness for cakes and pecan pie, and Char's version is absolutely divine. Rich, nutty, and perfectly sweet. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. They also had a tempting chocolate cake that I was eyeing, so I have a feeling another visit is in my near future. Char isn't the cheapest, let's be honest. But for me, it's worth every penny as a treat. The food is consistently excellent, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's the kind of place you go for a special occasion, or when you just want to treat yourself to a truly delicious meal. If you're in Jackson and you love Southern food, Char is a must-try. Just make sure you save room...
Read moreI'm waiting on my refund. Char Restaurant is called an upscale restaurant but the only thing I found to be upscale about it was the prices. If I could give ZER0 for the star I would select it. I am not local I visited the restaurant while in town on business. The reason I chose this restaurant was because it had high ratings according to the google reviews and it sold Steaks. I ordered the Cowboy steak on the menu and garlic potatoes and my boyfriend ordered the same; we both requested well done steaks. The steaks we received where the same color as charcoals I guess that why they call this place CHAR. The steak had no taste whatsoever other than burnt and, to be honest it didn't have the texture or taste of a steak. I'm not completely sure what kind of meat it actually was I only know what I ordered. I almost forgot the steak was in a puddle of tasteless oil. The garlic potatoes taste like the cheap box potatoes the ones with the box taste.
This restaurant is a white table cloth restaurant but on top of the table cloth is white paper. The price of our meal was 131.00 and that was the only thing upscale about this experience. I was highly disappointed in the food quality, and quantity, but the waitress was nice. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are going just to see how much you can spend on a lousy meal.
In response to the Managers response. I had no problem with where you got the meat from I'm sure the meat was great in raw form my problem was with the cooks preparation of the meat. I wouldn't cook a piece of meat for my dog that looked and tasted like the meat that was served to me. I will not be returning to this restaurant one time was plenty enough for me. I still can't understand how a person that is a cook cold be comfortable sending out food of that quality to paying customers shame on you and this restaurant. You say 5 star service well I didn't receive one of those stars you say this restaurant...
