Campbell's Bakery — Restaurant in Jackson

Heed my warning regarding Campbell's Bakery as I consider this a red alert. I normally dont get on reviews and rate any family owned business but I am so appalled with my experience that I HAVE to do this one. I recently placed an order (Sept.5, 2018) for my young son a custom birthday cake (beyblade style) along with some cupcakes. Well, I explain myself clearly to the person who took my order and she explain to me over the telphone that she would be able to accommodate my request for a red beyblade cake by this Friday. I was so relieved. At this point, she explain to me that the price of the CUSTOM made cake and cupcakes would come to a total of $108.29. I totally thought that because it is a customized cake- that was the reason for the price beings high. I traveled to Campbell Bakery to retrieved my cake that I purchased and paid for over the phone in advance. Well, she handed me the cupcakes 3 boxes (36 miniature cakes) which I was under the impression from our phone call... as well as the price, would be normal size cupcakes. I then had to ask her about the cake. Her comment to me was, "oh I forgot."

So she handed me this SMALL sized white box which I though were some more cupcakes.

I told the lady thank you and I was in a rush and went on my way. I normally check before I leave any store but i had so much confidence on this company. Such as reviewing the posting pictures of custom made birthday, cakes they have created. Also a logon i have read "When picking a theme for your children's party some people just commit. And we are happy to help them in that commitment." These are the typed words coming from this company and posted on their website. I walked to my car and open the small sized cake box to look at the cake and was not impressed at all (see attached picture). I have paid $108.29 for what was supposed to have been a custom cake which was not a beyblade style & cupcakes that looked like teacup. Just one teir round cake covered in red icing. I did put several white cadles on the cake. If you are getting 5 star from one families and posting it. That mean you are given your 100% work. Just by looking at this cake, you did not give my service 100% percent. I would not have been in question if you would have given me a call to say, I can not make a red beyblade cake. I am not asking for a feed back from this owner and post information in her defense. Truly I am not. This was my first experience. Listen people, I am telling you from experience, start doing your research and read others reviews. I will from this point on take heed to those who post their bad experience or somewhat bad experience with company who misled customer on their login meaning what kind of service they provide and I am urging you to do the same. When you see one/ maybe multiples bad views on a company, dont ignored that rating like I did. The cakes/cupcakes that I purchased were horrible and taste were horrible. Taste like corn meal cake. Smh ...

I was told when I ordered my cake that I would never go to another bakery, well I will. This is all my mother wanted was a bakery cake from y’all. I told her that I hoped that it tasted as good as it smelled. Saturday we went to Greenville to celebrate. I showed her the cake, she said it was pretty and it smelled good. I said it is supposed to be a 10in round, looks small, well let’s see. She gets the tape measure out and it is just past 8in. she took one bite and shook her head, she said that is nasty. It was so strong with almond flavor and so gummy that we could not eat It, it was like the cake was not cooked all the way. We had 13 people there to celebrate and a cake not worth feeding to the dogs. We had half the cake left and I asked her what she wanted to do with it, she said throw that nasty thing away. I apologized to her and said well you wanted to try them, because you saw their ad so much. Now you know. We will never use them again!! Why was the cake so gummy? Why would you tell me that it would be a 10in round and give me an 8in.? I paid $35.00 for a cake I did not get and could not eat… Very disappointed in the service and quality of your products.

My mother in law bought this cake for my seven year olds birthday it was supposed to be chocolate but obviously it’s not it was under cooked and cake has eggs in it so did we just get salmonella from it the top cake layer was a totally different color than the other layers it tasted like bananas extremely sweet they refused to fix it so now my 7 year old had no cake for her party no one could stomach the cake and they tried to eat it but couldn’t bring themselves to swallow a single bite the children said it was the nastiest cake they’ve ever eaten they do not deserve a star horrible customer service now my child has memories if this bakery ruining her birthday the bakery can contact me if they would like to resolve this situation but they probably won’t and for the price paid for this cake I could of went to Walmart and it would at least be cooked and not raw and they were given 2 different designs if they couldn’t do one they could do the other it looked nothing like either picture they could not...
