I tried The Pig & Pint BBQ for the first time the other Saturday, and I have to say that it was a delightful and interesting experience. As soon as we walked in I really liked the ambiance and the outdoor layout (I just wish there was more indoor seating where there was air conditioning lol🥵) and we loved the friendly and hospitable service from start to finish; everyone was so kind. I got their brisket plate with the comeback coleslaw and smoked mac n cheese with iced tea. Overall, the food was great. The brisket was nice and tender just how I like it and tasted good; I really enjoyed their classic Mississippi BBQ sauce and their Carolina Mustard BBQ sauce too (that one was unique to me). The coleslaw was a bit different than what I expected, like I knew that it would be tossed in a comeback sauce as the name implies, but I expected it to also have a bit more of a sweetness and vinegary notes; it reminded me more of a crab salad base which was interesting and unique but I just think it may have been better with a bit of sweetness and vinegary acidity like typical coleslaw. But the smoked mac n cheese was absolutely AMAZING!!! It was so good, rich, and creamy🥴🤤😋 I DEFINITELY recommend that side dish for anybody wanting to go there! The bread and the tea were good too (I got the unsweetened tea and added lemon and sweetened it to my taste so that's a little more ambiguous and subjective). I also tried some of my dad's ribs and fried green tomatoes which were pretty nice too. One thing I really loved tho was the classic old school blues music they had playing on the radio which really set the mood and how they have rolls of paper towels at each table so you don't have to beg for napkins. And they give you good portions for decent prices. As I mentioned earlier, I just wished they had more indoor seating space to be where there's air conditioning, but I did enjoy my outdoor dining experience there which allowed me to see this cool moth (in the last picture) that I thought was a leaf at...
Read moreUpdate: made it back after a couple years... Huge improvement over my last visit here. Came with a friend after work, we live out of town. And we were both happy with our meals. We kept it simple and light this time, just brisket meals. They were legit, damn good tasting. Next time I come back in a few days I may try the ribs... (Had little Willy's ribs the other night don't bother that's trash) I do like the environment, nice outdoors area, the sides we got were solid. I'll be back in a few days to try another meal. Glad I came back and gave it another shot, definitely wasn't let down this time.
So I was visiting Jackson for the week. Wanted to try some local bbq. I tried this place first and got the pitmaster sampler for 30$.... Ok this place is vastly overrated. The brisket was two strips the size of a thick slick of bacon, no good. I tried the pulled pork, what is this seasoning they are using cinnamon? No good without bbq sauce, luckily that was decent. The ribs.. these were terrible, very chewy and not done. I ate one bone of the four the best I could, and just tossed the rest back on to the plate. The bbq beans were good no issue there. The potato salad was a no go, could be it's just a taste im not accustomed too. I paid a premium price for very little food and very little tasted good. Not bashing the place, I don't do that. But I want to inform other people and help save them from my experience. I won't be going back for a second chance.
The next day I went to a local hole in the wall bbq joint and had a much better experience and was 10$ cheaper for the same platter with more food...
Read moreMy family and I were in Jackson and decided to stop by this bbq restaurant based on the reviews. Evidently the people with the 4 and 5 stars have never had good bbq. This place would be out of business if it were located in my hometown. We were told by the cashier that this place was known for their brisket and ribs. So my wife ordered half a rack of ribs with the green beans and pork rinds. I ordered the brisket with bbq beans and potato salad. Our food did come out pretty quick. We split the ribs and brisket between each other. The brisket was literally 2 slices of meat and half of each slice was nothing but fat, not very much meat for $15.99. The beans were average, they tasted like Bush's beans right out of the can, they could have doctored them up some, the potato salad was horrible, it has a awful after taste, the brisket was decent but only 2 slices and each had alot of fat on them, the bread was cold, apparently it had been toasted a while before we received it. Their sweet bbq sauce isn't very good, taste like heinz bbq sauce right out of the bottle. My wife's ribs were tender but whatever seasoning they use on their ribs isn't very good, her bread was also cold, she said the green beans were average and the pork rinds were average. This was our first and last time visiting this restaurant. If you are looking for above average bbq and don't want to spend $45 on food that is way below average, then I would stay away from this place. 👎👎 Just got home from eating at this place (2 hrs later) my wife is sick and...
