Tim, the owner, does a very good job of maintaining his image at the expense of his employees, and at times even at the expense of Green Frog and its customers.
While good and Christian, the songs played in the restaurant are always deafening and create an atmosphere where conversation feels prohibited. And while this could be a criticism of those who work in the store, the employees that are there every day have NO control over the volume of the music. Who does? Tim, the owner, who is hardly ever in the building.
The baristas are constantly being flooded by an espresso machine that, according to conversations I’ve overheard from employees, “is so old it should have been thrown away when this location opened”. I’ve seen multiple attempts to fix it using methods Tim assured would work, and that Tim himself has tried, yet for some supposedly unknown reason the ancient machine still has the same problems!
He can open a new store, yet he can’t afford to buy his employees equipment that would actually help them do their job?
Not only that, it’s also crazy that he has apparently removed a few positions during the day — crazy especially because I’ve now heard him yell at THREE different employees for “not doing their jobs” (though that staff is the hardest working I’ve seen, thanks to their managers, and now work harder still to keep up the demands of the job while having fewer employees working at one time).
In short, Tim does not know how to run this store. I love Green Frog, I go there often in the mornings, yet he mistreats and manipulates so many people that are doing a fine job. He is the reason they have a high turnover rate!! And while the managers are fantastic, every problem seems to be their — even when it’s the distributor who’s late or it’s actually Tim’s fault or it’s the fault of a poorly trained employee (“poorly trained” only because Tim won’t allow them to have enough employees to adequately train people).
For someone who has ownership of a company, Tim does NOT know how to own up to his mistakes and his oversight and his apathy. Also, everyone’s demeanor changes when he walks in. It’s crazy! It’s like they’re afraid of him, even when they’re not doing anything wrong! And who wouldn’t be afraid of a boss that likes to yell at people?
So if you do go to Green Frog, go for the sake of their employees, and remember to be kind to them. Many of the problems you might encounter are not...
Read moreFor many years, Green Frog used to be a place of comfort for me. I always supported the local business even when I was a teenager back when the local coffee shop used to be at downtown Jackson.
However, after being there not only as a customer but as an employee, I got to see what the establishment was really like. It has become very clear over time that the owner does not care at all about his managers or employees for that matter.
For whatever reason the owner decided to personally block me from Green Frog's main Facebook page. Why? I have zero idea. I haven't commented on their posts or called him out on some of the idiotic posts with very outdated pictures of the food that is being served.
It's extremely sad and very childish upon the owners part for doing something so petty like that. I was going to continue supporting Green Frog after making my exit from the workplace, but not anymore. I will NEVER give them my business ever again.
It really saddens me because I used to love it there. I always went there to find comfort and I would send my friends and family there instead of Starbucks. I wanted to see Green Frog grow as a business.
The managers and the employees there all deserve so much better than what bare minimum you give them. They all work so hard to keep the business going, but I've SEEN how you treat them. It's absolutely saddening that a grown man cannot be generous and kind to those who work so hard.
You want to act like a local business owner, but in reality you treat all your stores like a corporate operated business. You do not see your managers or employees as actual living human beings, they are just numbers to you.
I will forever love my managers and my coworkers that I became close to, but I hate to see the people I care for not getting treated fairly. I'm really sorry to my Green Frog family I...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin. This evening, after a doctor visit, I went with my family to the drive thru for some soup and milkshakes. After we ordered, we waited a bit and I figured it was normal. I considered leaving because my baby was very upset, but I didn’t want to be rude and leave since I figured they were in the middle of preparing our order. In hindsight, we definitely should have left—like the vehicles behind us did. We finally get to the window and are first told there is no vanilla or chocolate—no big deal, so we change our flavors (could have been told this at the speaker to save time). Then, our soup is left off our ticket even though the worker asked what size at the speaker. We are charged extra for an additional ice cream, they tried to also give us a peach tea that we didn’t order. Finally, after getting everything except the soup, we are told to pull up and that she will bring it out to us. We wait and wait. My husband decides to go in and no one had any idea what he was talking about when he asked about our soup. Everyone seemed to just not understand what was going on, talking about cooking burgers and the grills messing up (we didn’t order burgers) and asking if we had been through the drive thru. So, 35 minutes and $25 later, still with screaming kids, I decide to go in and tell my husband to forget it. I cannot believe the ridiculous nature of the entire thing and how we were treated. We will never return. Usually, I am an understanding person who gets it and brushes things off. This was so far beyond excusable. I can’t even make this stuff up. Green Frog Jackson is AWFUL, and judging by the vehicles leaving behind us, we aren’t the only ones...
