I have to Share this experience due to it was very troublesome to me once I made it in. I tried not to think about it but it was something not right in what happened on tonight. For the first time my family did a birthday surprise for my sister's birthday at this place called Iron Horse in Downtown Jackson. We all were very skeptical about being in a Jackson with all that has been taking place but this was the place her son had chosen so we decided to go ahead and come. I will say the food was good and the waitress that we had was very nice and professional in servicing my family. We completed our meal and began to head out to leave as we exit the restaurant some still coming through the doorway as others are headed downstairs to find their cars we began to proceed downstairs pointing in which direction each of us had parked so we were making sure everyone was headed to their cars safely this overzealous and I do not use that word lightly!!! started running his lights and blowing his horn and everything else like some ghetto cop trying to get attention. My family turns and look and I am looking nothings going on nobody is out of character or doing anything to warrant his ignorance at that moment to warrant his ignorance of doing what he did. It was totally uncalled for and ignorant to say the least until many of my families first words were this is why I do not do anything in Jackson. I have heard many talk of how ignorant some of the law enforcement in Jackson act especially when African Americans are around but he truly showed and ignorance that is embarrassing to those law enforcement officers who know how to act. Whoever he was I hope he sees this post and learn from it. You want respect from citizen then you need to learn how to give respect. Will it be a place we would ever want to visit again. I think not !! Black ,White,Blue or gold no matter what color you are everyone deserves respect. I know one officer that works there at times and I was so embarrassed I had to call and make sure he was not there working because it was total ignorance shown by the officer tonight. Give people a chance to come out the doors from having an enjoyable meal without having to deal with total ignorance from law enforcement thats overzealous and totally ridiculous behavior. It's time to send some back to training not on just how to shoot people , but professionalism is very important also. Restaurants don't realize careful consideration as to who they hire to work for them is just as important as making sure the food and services are good. I normally don't say anything but tonight actions of whomever that was in the white officers vehicle...
Read moreI decided to try this restaurant out with a friend, as it appeared to have really good reviews. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. It is pretty noisy in here so it was hard for me to hear my friend. It's a very busy restaurant. They only take reservations for large groups. The menus look like news paper and water and sodas are served in Mason jars. Staff was friendly. There is complimentary salsa and chips. We ordered the guacamole for appetizers as well. The guacamole was horrible. There are three different types of guacamole in the appetizers. One is supposed to be spicy, one is sweet and one is regular guacamole. It did not taste good at all. The spicy guacamole was not spicy, the sweet guacamole just had pineapples on it with a light drizzle of sauce. We asked our waiter to bring extra spicy sauce and she gave us tobasco hot sauce which was the wrong one. My friend ordered the Navajo chicken. She enjoyed the chicken and said it had a smokey taste to it and was juicy and tender. There was also baked potato, bread and beans on the plate as well. The beans were not that tasty. I ordered the shrimp po boy sandwich. Everything about it was horrible except for the shrimp. The shrimps are huge and are seasoned well. The bread was too soft to hold the weight of the shrimp and everything kept falling out. There was barely any sauce in the sandwich and I had to get extra sauce. I ended up taking half the shrimp out of my sandwich and dipping it in sauce and eating it. My fries were soggy and not fresh. My waitress brought me a new plate of fries within two minutes which were soggy as well and I did not eat it. I prefer fresh crispy fries. For dessert we ordered the trio which came with bread pudding, cheesecake and brownie. The bread pudding was good in flavor but was dry. The brownie had candied bacon on it which my friend said smelled like dog treats and it got stuck on her teeth. She enjoyed the brownie though and the cheesecake was good. At 9pm on Fridays they have live music which is entertaining. I would come back here to try something else on the menu, but wouldn't be my first choice of...
Read moreThis was my second visit at The Iron Horse Grill, and it was just as frustrating and akward as my first. I vowed NEVER to come again after my first horrible visit for my birthday. Let me explain, we had reservations for 50 people on December 31, 2016.This was my birthday mind you. Once we started to arrive we were told they had no knowledge of the reservations and could not accommodate us. So we literally had to stand and wait for almost three hours to be seated. We didn't leave because this is where everyone had agreed on bringing the New Year in. I was so upset, but for everyone else's sake I grinned and bared the awful treatment that was being served to us. Currently on July 12, 2019 this location was chosen for my boss's birthday lunch. For her I reneged on my vow. Going with the best hope of this visit being better than my first, I was quickly disappointed. No one acknowledged us for almost 45 minutes, we were told we had to take our cake out because they didn't allow outside food or beverages. The waitress even lied like she would put the cake in a cool place so it would not have to melt sitting in a car. She just left it sitting out up front. My complaint is not about the food...it's been great each time. It's just for me personally, I feel like the service up front is horrible. They didn't great us either time to acknowledge our presence at all. They just stood there whispering amongst themselves and staring as though we weren't supposed to be there. It's a horrible akward feeling of rudeness that takes over the entire moment from beginning to end. At the end of the meal...I told my boss, " for you only, I will NEVER return to this restaurant again after today"! So I can only hope and pray that anyone else will have a better experience. Please don't be disappointed if you don't, you've...
