Nestled in the heart of Jacksonville FL, Talkin Tacos stands as a vibrant testament to the artistry of modern Mexican cuisine. From the moment I crossed the threshold, I was transported into a world where culinary tradition and contemporary flair harmoniously coexist. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the captivating decor. The walls, adorned with mesmerizing black light art, danced with colors that seemed to come alive, creating an ambiance both whimsical and inviting. The atmosphere is electric, a fusion of urban chic and cultural homage, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The star of my culinary journey was undoubtedly the birria tacos. Served with an unparalleled depth of flavor, each taco was a revelation. The tender, slow-cooked meat practically melted in my mouth, infused with a rich blend of spices that spoke of tradition and love. Accompanied by a rich consomé for dipping, these tacos transcended the ordinary, elevating them to an experience I won’t soon forget. Equally memorable was the horchata, a creamy, cinnamon-infused beverage that provided the perfect counterbalance to the savory delights. Its velvety texture and refreshing sweetness made each sip feel like a warm embrace, inviting me to linger a little longer in this culinary haven. A delightful surprise was the mango slush an inventive twist that showcased the restaurant's commitment to pushing boundaries while honoring flavor. The vibrant mango paired with expertly seasoned rice and fresh ingredients created a sushi roll that was both refreshing and indulgent. Each bite was a harmonious blend of sweetness and umami, challenging my palate in the best possible way. The service at Talkin Tacos deserves a standing ovation. The staff exuded warmth and enthusiasm, making me feel like a cherished guest rather than just another patron. Their recommendations were spot on, showcasing not only their deep knowledge of the menu but also their passion for the food they serve. In summary, my experience at talkin tacos was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of fantastic birria tacos, delightful horchata, innovative mango slush stunning decor, and impeccable service created a perfect culinary symphony. This restaurant is not just a place to eat; it’s a destination for those seeking to celebrate the joy of food in an atmosphere that ignites the senses. I eagerly await my next visit to explore more of their vibrant offerings and immerse myself once again in this remarkable...

An employee immediately opened the door and welcomed us inside, asking if we had been here before. When we said no, he directed us to the kiosk and explained how it worked. After several minutes (the people in front of us had no idea what to order), this same employee brought us a tablet to order directly from, we placed our order and sat down, our food was delivered within 10 minutes. They operate fast!! Everything was delicious
We both decided on Trio Street Tacos - El Pastor, Carne Asada, and for the 3rd, I picked Mahi Mahi while my wife chose the Caribbean taco. As an appetizer we ordered street corn in a cup (this has a tiny spice but gone before you can say "hot"), Horchatas (delicious and refreshing), and Churros (Cookies & Cream and Dulce De Leche), because how can we pick just one flavor! The Churros.... some of the best we've ever had. Especially the Dulce De Leche, it was very difficult not to eat all of it!
Our main course of Street Tacos did not disappoint!! The Mahi Mahi was lightly battered and fried. It was moist and fluffy and had a great combination of flavors. The Caribbean is super tender and juicy. My wife said, "Heaven just touched my mouth", lol, I admit it was pretty delicious! The steak and plantain paired perfectly together. Both the Carne Asada & El Pastor were amazingly tender, juicy, and packed so full that meat spilled out. It is absolutely worth the price of the food we received!! Someone mentioned the taco shells, they were not bad, slightly crispy around the edges yet soft on the inside. If the taco is falling apart, it's only because there is so much delicious juice in these tacos.
The entire staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and always making rounds to make sure everyone was taken care of.
Inside also has tons of space for sitting at the bar or at a table. Everything is florescent and brightly colored. I loved all the cute neon signs and other pun signage. Who doesn't love a good pun...
Read moreVisited 25May25. I guess in order to write a review you need to give a star which I don't think is deserving at all. My girlfriend and I wanted to try a new place for Mexican. It looked so fun with the paintings when I looked it up. We decided on it. We get inside and there's no one eating, about 5 female servers just all standing there in the front didn't say hi or look up. Remind you we've never been here. So my girlfriend asked if we have to use the kiosk one of the girls acted bothered and was like ...yeah.... we try to navigate through their menu. Looking for just simple chips and queso, asked the same girl. She acted like she was bothered wasn't happy, cheerful or anything. Said from the spot she was at uh yeah it's on there. Wasn't helpful think we were cutting into her screen time. We decided on 2 quesadillas, 1 of them with extra chicken. Get to the drink section, she wants a sprite. Asked the same girl if they have sprite she looked at us like we were dumb and chuckled a little and said we don't do fountain drinks. Well they only have jarritos or lemonade. Lemonade was free refills for $5, no regular lemonade... not too sure on lemonade with Mexican and didn't want to chance it on Jarritos. We ended up adding lemonade into our "cart" of 2 chicken quesadillas 1 with extra chicken. One order of what we think is queso. And 2 lemonades was SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS!!!! So looked at each other and left. Outrageous pricing. Rude staff. Also not sure why every menu option you can say no to takis but takis were never in any of the pictures! Totally bummed out and disappointed...
We went somewhere else and got the same things. But instead of lemonades we got a water and sprite. Spent $47... a lot still but almost $20 less with a lot...
