If you like Detroit-style pizza, this is a great spot. Some of these reviewers can’t be trusted. I can tell some of them just don’t like Detroit style, and that’s fine. Also, others are still mad about the theatre going away and decided to take it out on the new business in a Google review, apparently. Keep reading if you want to know about whether the food is actually delicious or not.
We got the Caesar salad, a med. Godfather Part II, and med. Six-Cheese Cacio e Pepe. Snickerdoodle and salted caramel gelato sandwich for dessert.
The salad was ok. Instead of crouton bread crumbs on top I would have loved to see real croutons made out of their pizza dough. Also it needed more dressing, it was barely there. This was the only thing that was sort of mediocre.
The pizza was great and exactly what you want with Detroit style. A light, fluffy, airy crust with a great crispy crunch around all the edges. People complain about not enough sauce. Well I love plenty of sauce too, but I think these pizzas are actually well balanced with a light amount of sauce and some great toppings. With this style pizza it’s all about the crust - more sauce would make it too heavy. My wife and I found the pizza to be delicious, and the main reason for the five star review.
The cherry on top was this gelato sandwich. Delicious creamy salted caramel gelato in between two Snickerdoodle cookies. The texture of the cookies was impressive - very soft and chewy to make it super easy to eat, but held together and never fell apart. Highly recommend.
Yes, the Tractor sodas and drinks are unique. If you can’t have pizza without a classic Coke, then this spot might not be for you. I love trying unique drinks and tasted a bunch of the sodas. The Cherry Cream and the Lemongrass were both very nice. My wife enjoyed the sweet tea with a splash of lemonade.
The atmosphere is beautiful. Due to it being an old theatre, there are very high ceilings with plenty of natural light from all the windows. It’s bright and inviting. We went on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t very busy, only about half full. I can’t speak to how busy it gets on the weekend.
Give this spot a try. I think this is a great addition to San Marco. We will...
Read moreFinally got to Electric Dough after hearing mixed reviews since opening, and unfortunately it was not a great experience. It was Wednesday night around 6 and we walked right up to the counter to order for our party of 7, but after ordering, there was no seating. We stood around waiting for a table to open up and was informed nicely after about 15 minutes of standing that our order would be ready shortly and suggested finding seating outside. Unfortunately it had just finished raining so everything was very wet. I was told that someone was going to wipe the table down. The table was wiped down but only the top so the sides were very wet and all the chairs were soaked. There were several other people in our situation and I observed one guest ask if the chairs could be dried off and he was handed a rag which he then graciously shared with me. Meanwhile our pizzas were here except one. I went about 5 minutes later to check on the missing cheese pizza that I ordered for my youngest and requested only mozzarella instead of the “fancy” cheese and it came as shown in the picture I posted. I went to ask about it just curious if this was a normal about of cheese and the very nice kitchen worker seemed a little confused but said they would add more cheese, which they did however it was just a few more plops of mozzarella. We got a few different kinds of pizza including one GF crust and everything except the disappointing cheese pizza was fine but not what I was hoping for after a strange start to the evening. I think in order to survive, there needs to be a process for finding seats before ordering. The interior is awesome but not awesome if you’ve ordered with no seating available. The staff was friendly and were working hard but just isn’t a...
Read moreWe went to Electric Dough Pizza for dinner Friday night after giving up last Friday. And while getting there earlier helped…the service model they are using is just wrong and frankly ends up ruining the experience all together. So while our pizza was good - it was not great for the prices. And I am used to expensive….If you know Adrienne’s in West Palm, it is the same style pizza but likely more costly however Adrienne’s pizza is fantastic and Electric Dough’s is almost too doughy. And salads in a box? Not what you want. So overall, the food is good, but not great.
The staff is super sweet but there are no directions to “encourage” people not to take up large tables for just one or two people (and there simply are not enough tables in the restaurant’s existing set up). Plus, if you’re spending this much on a meal, generally people like to be waited on and the service model at Electric Dough just misses the mark. (And what’s crazy is we saw a worker take an order table side on her POS system for additional food…so clearly they COULD include table service if they choose to - which might actually benefit the order flow in their kitchen leading to a better pizza).
The restaurant is really pretty with an inviting vibe but unfortunately despite all of our excitement and hopes, it is sadly not what we were expecting (and frankly not what the San Marco culture needs/wants). Maybe we’ll give the pizza a try again soon…but for take out.
(Notation of cost p/p...
