The name of my story is young Asian lady with braces! I live in this neighborhood and I enjoy coming to Larry's giant subs because it is the closest location to me and convenient but lately when I come in the store I get greeted by a cashier that seems like she has know patients now sometimes I don't always know what I want to eat but most of the time I due! But when this particular cashier takes my order she doesn't really say much at all and has a not so welcoming facial expressions and that made me a little uncomfortable then after she gave me my receipt to I gave it back to her! Then I noticed that she snatched it from my hand but this has happened to me about more times in the past and that was why I noticed it so fast! I really enjoy Larry's giant subs but I've been thinking about exploring other sandwich shop that can give me the same foods that I like but with all of the disrespect basically the cashier is the biggest part of the business survival and growth to the future so instead of having such person in front why not have them in the back making sandwiches! Came to try the pizza because of recommendations from friends in the food industry. I ordered a 10" half cheese half pepperoni. The kitchen was pretty busy so it took about 40 minutes for my pizza to come out. It looked great, the pepperoni was delicious, the sauce had great flavor, but the crust was pretty bad. It was undercooked and gooey. It tasted like raw dough. I'll try them again because maybe the kitchen was having an off day, but I'm not sure if they could have kept the pizza in any longer without burning the cheese and toppings.
Update - I came back to try the pizza again on a slower day. I ordered the same as before - a 10" half cheese half pepperoni. The pizza came out a lot faster this time - about 12 minutes. Again, the pepperoni was delicious... But this time around that was about it. There was very little sauce on the pizza so it was hard to judge the flavor, and the crust was again chewy without any crisp - chewy to the point my jaw was getting tired and I didn't finish the meal. We LOVE IT here!! When you say “best of both worlds” you better mention Fired Up Wood Fire Pizza + Larry’s Giant Subs!! We ordered the Bianca “Off-White” Pizza, Thor’s Hammer Wings, and the Kong’s Club sub. Karate in the Garage was the beer of choice.
The service here was super welcoming. The staff were not only friendly, but conversational making great suggestions on things to try. We went with the Bianca Off-White Pizza and added both chicken and mushrooms. Delicious by the way. The recipe is really good for lovers of pesto and balsamic ANYTHING! After the first bite, it was clear who the NEW pizza kings are as we found it to be better than our normal stop at V’s Pizza.
Those Thor’s Hammer Wings… #meatfallingoffthebone 🤤 They’re flavorful and not too heavy on the garlic, but a GREAT marriage between lemon pepper and buffalo sauces.
If you’re a beer lover, absolutely try the Karate in the Garage. It’s a hazy IPA with a smooth finish.
