Island Spice Grill / town center mall — Restaurant in Jacksonville

So I am from South Carolina I’m visiting Jacksonville for work . I eat oxtails all the time and I wanted to find a Jamaican restaurant so I visit Island spice and Grill. I wanted to get the belly bus plate with the jerk chicken and oxtails, but there was a 30 minute wait on the jerk chicken so I just went for the oxtails. The service was excellent. The people were very nice. I ordered a oxtail plate which presenting looks real good as soon as I get into my vehicle, I try a piece of the potato because it was the very first thing that was just sitting there looking at me, potato was uncooked, so I went back and spoke to the employee and told him what had happened. He told me I needed to talk to the other guy which I’m assuming was the cook he said he had just put it in there. “The potato “I’m not sure what that was supposed to mean because if you had just put it in there, you should not have served it. If it wasn’t cooked he asked me how was the rest of the food I told him I didn’t try anything else. He told me to try something else and asked if he could fix it, which was still being very nice , but at this point I really didn’t want anything else I didn’t want a refund or anything.I spent 26$ on this plate. I get back to my hotel room to eat the rest of the plate which was only three minutes away from where the food truck was located and the cabbage is not cook as well so now at this point, I wish I did tell him that I wanted something else I’m not Hundred percent satisfied I’ll give them a 75% because the oxtails are good. The rice is OK. I never had oxtail served with little pieces of corn & sweet peas in it, which was weird to me . But I know I won’t be going back to Spending much money as I did to...

They were really on point fromThe customer service, food, & enviogment/setting. To start, the owner was welcoming & extremely helpful (we were indecisive). The menu had so many great options. We end up ordering the soup of the day which was chicken It was hot, fresh, & homemade 4 sure & my goodness it was sooooo delicious 😋☺️ especially bc of the weather.❄️🥶 We also got a beef patty (10/10), lobster roll w/side of mac&cheese (8.5/10) the 2 meat belly buster Oxtails & curry chicken with sides of rice & peas & cabbage (the proteins were cooked very well they were tender & flavorful the rice itself was also very good. The cabbage was ok, honestly it didn't meet my standards. #1 I prefer my cabbage tender w/a little firmness & seasoned. This company catered a birthday event for me this weekend and we received horrible service. For one, the food arrived almost 2 hours after they said they would. When it did arrive we were missing one of the main meats (smdh). It took another 40 minutes or longer to get it. I asked if they could at least provide us with extra pans bc of the mixup…bc we needed the larger ones to keep the food warm. Of course, they ignored this request.

Lastly several of my family member and friends had bad diarrhea after leaving and even days later are still sick. Myself and my daughter has been sick as well. We all ate the rice and peas so I don’t know what was wrong but something definitely was wrong with the food. I’m disappointed I chose this company, but it was last minute and I trusted that they could accommodate....
