Laurens Seafood, Blues & Jazz — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Long Post Alert: Attended a private even at Lauren’s Seafood Blues & Jazz located in Regency last Saturday… Family decided to go back this Saturday to celebrate my sisters birthday.. However long story short. They were understaffed last week but we felt they didn’t know the turnout would be as big. 1 waiter last night at least that was working. Arrived 7pm had reservations 10 min wait as tables were not ready. Ordered drinks. Me a Shirley Temple.( sprite and cherry syrup). Took an hour for the drinks. Ordered food around 8:00 maybe 8:30 didn’t get food until after 10. When the checks were brought I questioned why was I being charged for 2 drink they said cause it was a sprite which I thought was a soft drink but guess cause the bar had to make it they considered it a special drink. My food came with side. Ordered Sweet Potato fries menu says nothing about upcharge. My ticket showed full price 4.25 Questioned the waitress about that and was told that there is a two dollar up charge and she would have it fixed. When my card was swiped the 4.25 was not taken off of my check however it was swiped for the regular price and 2$ placed in the book. Now last week the menu said 18% gratuity I thought that was cause of the private event. Nope that’s on a regular. And they charge an additional fee for paying with card which is not told to you or posted anywhere on menu or in restaurant. Let’s just say this a money hungry establishment the place was dead the DJ sucked and there wasn’t even a live band playing. We asked for a birthday song the DJ played one that I have never heard of.. Never will I be going back someone needs to go and Mentor Mr. Vick cause...

So I went to a white party at Lauren’s in Jacksonville Florida this past Saturday. The place was absolutely beautiful with white table cloths on the table and all. The music started out good from the DJ and the live band was really nice. I decided not to wait for a waitress any longer and went to the bar to get a drink big mistake. I guess I got that wrong bar tender, I ordered the Hennessy mixed drink on the drink special menu and was given a glass with Hennessy and ice and a splash of some orange liqueur not good at all. After getting back to my seat the waitress brought the lady next to me a drink and I asked what it was and she pointed to the same Hennessy drink I was supposed to have and it looked good, like it was made right and she said it was delicious. I won’t be ordering another mixed drink it’s beer from here on. So I Ordered wings and fries with the waitress and it took forever, I saw the waitress bring the food for a table that ordered same time as I so I asked about my food and she said it wasn’t ready yet, more than 30 minutes later she brings my food and it was ice cold. I started to send the food back but I had been drinking and needed something on my stomach so I ate 2 wings and took the rest home. I don’t fault the waitress for the cold food I blame management because when they have a party like that or know when they have large crowds like that they should have a couple food runners so people food won’t be cold so now I can’t order food anymore. I like this place so I really want to go back we danced a lot and had tons of fun until the DJ changed the music to rap and the dance floor was empty for 30 minutes so it...

The restaurant recently posted an ad in front of regency mall, which is why I decided to give it a try. When my friend and I walked inside, we weren’t greeted by anyone. We stood in the front looking, lost for a bit, and then decided just to walk in. When we did, a couple of the staff were sitting at the bar just hanging out, one of the servers had only one table and was walking around on her phone. As she was dropping off the bill to that couple, she didn’t even say anything to them, she just kept going on with her conversation on her cell phone . We honestly should’ve left at that point, but my friend had drove over 30 minutes to try this place out. After the other couple paid and left, we were the only customers in there. We got the same server that was continually on her phone. She didn’t even take the phone away from her ear when she came to take our order. the menu is very limited. My friend initially wanted an Arnold Palmer but then she was told that there is no sweet tea so she asked for just a lemonade, and they told her they didn’t have enough for a cup.. the food is mid and 18% gratuity is added...
