My spouse and myself came into this establishment Friday evening. Upon entering this establishment they were already racial profiling someone A customer That just placed his order However he received a phone call while in the store and the manager automatically assumed because of his His race that he was going to end up walking out and not paying for his order. However this Customer had just walked out to talk on his phone and had no Inclinations whatsoever of walking out and not paying for his meal came back in and paid for all six subs. He was not treated the way he should’ve been treated at the register while paying for his subs Due to the fact that the manager already racial profiled. We asked if we could get The club sub and was refused by the Caucasian female manager That my spouse could not get the club sub because they did not have any bacon. So she ordered something different She was not asked whether or not she wanted her sub the Mike’s way. I proceeded to watch the next person that walked in and how his experience went. The manager told the next person that he could not have anything made with bacon because they we’re not dropping any more bacon. This customer like us just wanted to sandwich but didn’t care if it had any bacon on it but Rose refused that sandwich because they didn’t have bacon. The other employee proceeded to make the sandwich however put too much spicy mayo on the sandwich which I witnessed myself and it was extremely excessive. The manager stated grab another top to the loaf of bread but after stating that came over to the counter from the grill area took her fingers and wiped off with her glove and fingers not using a knife or any type of spatula the excess mustard. The customer said I am not eating that bread that you just put your fingers all over. The customer was a little overweight so the manager decided to degrade the customer by asking him do you want light mayo do you want light spicy mustard the customer proceeded by no I do not want excessive spicy mayo on my sandwich and I cannot believe that you just wiped off the excess with your fingers. The manager proceeded to say derogatory statements to the customer belittling the customer in every way that she could and then trying to escalate the situation by saying it was not her fault however she is the one that came over after saying let’s replace the top of the bread but she proceeded to use her nasty fingers and wipe off the excess of the mustard and belittle the customer due to his weight. We got our sandwiches back home and because mine was made at the grill it was incorrect did not have the condiments That was asked of her nor did it have the lettuce and extra pickles that I asked for the tomatoes were on the bottom of the bread not on the top of the bread. We asked for the managers name and we asked her specifically however she refused to give it to us I called tonight and was refused again the managers name and was told it was a Privacy violation and they cannot provide the name of the manager. Lifelong Customer, Please read this whole situation as I went out of my way to mitigate it properly. A sub cracker is not the quality that I expected the night that I ordered two giant Italian subs made mikes way from this location. I was unaware of the stale bread as I did not handle it before unwrapping it in my home after getting home from the store. This made the sandwich disappointing to the point where I only ate half and decided to bring the other half back to the store the next day. The staff I interacted with advised me that there was nothing they could do and in my opinion, they were not very friendly about it at all. I then asked for the general manager's information and I was given a card for Christian Phone number 772-267. I proceeded to call him and I was aware that it was New Year's Eve day but he picked up advising me he was on vacation. I was given the chance to explain my issue as I was rushed off the phone however he did advise me that he would put me in his remake book on his arrival back at work. I agreed with that and accepted the compensation. I called the store on Jan 11, 2024, to make sure I was in the book due to the need to provide dinner due to having to return to work to cover a shift. I was advised that I was not in the remake book so I asked for a manager where I spoke to Ryanne the new general manager, I advised her of my situation and she then told me that Christian was no longer at that location, he had moved to the Oakleaf store. I advised her of Christians remedy to my situation and she told me to call back as she reached out to him about my situation. I called back 5 minutes later and was told that he did not know what I was talking about and told me I needed to prove I purchased both sandwiches, I advised her that I had the original receipt with the general manager card from when I complained about the quality of the sandwich. She then told me she would be there until 6:30 pm and I told her I would be there before then and I would see her soon. I got to the store around 6 pm I saw the staff was busy with a customer and decided to ask for the manager after they were done and was told she wasn't there but I observed a laptop displaying the Jersey Mikes platform on the back table. I decided to move on as they were not willing to help me. I have been a lifelong customer since I was born in Point Pleasant NJ. This is sad and damages the brand but more so as I enjoy the subs normally I will now refrain from being a patron until I am compensated for this horrible experience.. Read moreToday was my first time eating at Jersey Mike's. I have been to the restaurant on a few occasions simply accompanying someone else as they ordered. On the occasions that I did visit, the workers were friendly, prompt and it was a clean environment. However, on my visit to purchase a sub, I noticed cleanliness was a bit lacking.
I noticed the associate placing the condiments in the sub but did not change her gloves after each sub which can lead to cross-contamination. She wiped the lettuce off the table with her gloves on and placed the lettuce back into the tray with the fresh lettuce. Then grabbed the oil, grabbed the receipt and then on to the next sub.
After the fourth sub, she changed her gloves but continued performing the same tasks. She wiped the tabletop with her gloves on and prepared the sub to the customers liking. Grabbed the oil, grabbed the receipt and slid the next sub down which was mine. I immediately asked her to change her gloves, which she did.
Because this routine occurred without hesitation, perhaps this level of training in cleanliness and cross-contamination needs to be reviewed again, especially in the times that we are living in today but really all the time.
Other than this, the workers were friendly to the customers, The sub was fresh and filling, This is a convenient restaurant for a quick bite and it is reasonably priced.
